I just wanted to share what I've been using for years to lose those extra pounds when they creep on. It's the cheapest thing imaginable:

Oatmeal.

It's filling, and it works. You can buy it in bulk for well under $1/lb. Just eat only oatmeal for two days. DO NOT get the packaged kind with sugar added, and DO NOT add maple syrup, brown sugar, etc. If you need some flavor, add fruit to it. Cinnamon is good, too. Drink only water, or ad some lemon. Yes, it's bland, but it's only two days, it works, and it makes you appreciate real food afterward. I want to know if this works for others!

Yes, I eat oatmeal daily .. not at every meal though.
Just one meal. Filling, good for you, warm and tasty, I like it, I add a lil' bit of milk and sometimes a lil' bit of yogurt too, I cut pieces of fruits and put those in as well.
Apples are my favorite.

It's very inexpensive though, that's true.   Once I got a stupid speeding ticket and I was really frustrated about it since I had made the mistake.   I told myself I will only eat oatmeal/milk/fruits until the ticket's been paid, I calculated it would take about a month of eating only oatmeal to be even, Saving 5$ on food per day basically.  ;-)

Cool plan ?   I think I only lasted a few days though.  I wasn't doing it to lose weight it was to punish myself for getting a speeding ticket.  The crazy things you do sometimes when you are young.

Cheers !
