Hi everyone.  I just bought Alli tonight to help me in my diet and exercise program.  I follow a low fat and low calorie diet and am hoping this helps as well.  Anyone had any experience with this?  Good, bad?  Just wondering, thanks!

I used Alli awhile back, I gave it a 2 bottle test drive.  Overall, I can' t say I lost any significant weight.  I might not have been overweight enough for it to work though, I know it mentions that.  I did get the "oily stools" and gas a couple times so it was doing something for me but evidently not enough.  Either that or I was too impatient. But I guess it could help by blocking a couple calories.

As expensive as it is, unless you have a budget for it, it doesn't seem worth the time/effort/worry of side effects.

The main reason I went for it was because it was FDA approved and I wanted something to go with my diet and exercise to hopefully up my results.  I guess I will take it for the bottle I bought and if it works I buy more, if not then I just won't buy anymore.  I got the smallest amount they had which was about 40 bucks so I figure that it's worth a try just for now.  Thanks for your reply, sorry it didn't work for you.  Take care!

Hey Emerysgirl, I noticed in your post that you are from Des moines. I grew up in Indianola and lived in Norwalk for about 10 years. It's nice to see another Iowan on the board.... Take care and good luck with alli...

Hey Emerysgirl!

I tried Alli about 10 months ago.  I was not following a fully fat free diet and the drug did not work for me at all.  Problem was, I started it during the summer, when I spent time with family and friends at bbq's, outdoor parties--events with fried or not so good for you food.  The side effects were awful! You have to be very careful on what you eat or the side effects are miserable.  And embarassing!

It is expensive, and I agree with lastten--try one bottle first to see if it actually does anything for you.

Good luck!

In recent months I saw two TV segments where doctors said ALLI results in the equivalent of losing 100 to 200 extra calories a day.

I got completely scared away from Alli...I don't have a ton of weight to lose but I need to tone and drop some pounds fast for summer.I am a 25 year old mother of 2 ages 7 and 3...I am 5'3 and as of this morning weigh 126...which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't look so lumpy and flabby! I heard Alli can cause some pretty embarrassing things to happen if you don't cut out almost ALL fat from your diet and I don't know about anyone else but I sure don't want to walk around worrying about uncontrollable anal leakage all the time! Burn 60 from GNC is a really good one to try...there is no jittery feeling even though there is caffeine in it and it does work.A few people have noted that it helps with migraines and it does have ginger root in it so no uneasy stomach either. I bought 1 bottle for my husband several months ago and he was not taking it faithfully at all...the first 3 weeks he did and the changes were noticeable! He changed his diet,we don't drink pop anymore, switched to 2% milk and wheat bread, don't eat fast food any more and tried to stay away from foods high in sodium, fat and calories and he lost about 30 pounds in 2 months...I lost 25 in about 3 months but obviously gained some of it back because I have a huge addiction to chocolate.

I only take Alli when I have bad cheat days and it helps me from gaining weight. I don't take it all the time because I get bad gas and have to run to the bathroom but I never experienced any oily stools. I have a girlfriend that takes xenical and has lost 90 pounds on it but she has tried Alli and didn't do anything for her. She can't even fart otherwise she'll have a spill. lololololol:devil:
