Now by the title you probably think I mean fruit and veg, but I am talking about things like these
Apple Cider Vinegar
ht tp://www.safeslimming.co.uk/AppleCiderVinegarAndWeightLoss.html
Garlic
ht tp://home.howstuffworks.com/natural-weight-loss-food-garlic-ga.htm
Omega 3
Oolong Tea (AKA Wulong Tea)
ht tp://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0887/is_12_20/ai_81759755
EDIT - also just added
Bee Pollen
ht tp://www.qni.com/~gic/herb/bee.htm
so my question is, has anyone tried these either as a whole food or capsule, did they work for you and are there any similar food/drink products you would recommend?

I take garlic and omega three on a regular basis, but not because of weight control. They have a lot of other benefits, health wise. I'm using the green tea extract (I don't know what kind of green tea it is), and it seems to help without adding to much to the blood pressure.
In the herbal world, there are arguments before and against the idea of using vinegar of any sort. Proponants swear it's great for you and helps with weight control. However, there are a lot of herbalists who say that any vinegar or pickled food is bad for your health.
For my part, I use vinegar, etc. in cooking, but I've never tried it in a weight loss program.

I take a garlic tablet, and I use a *lot* of garlic when I cook, both fresh and powdered. I get teased because I buy garlic powder at Costco, in the largest container I can find .

mark,
yeah I read that "weight loss cure" boook that gives you over 20 vitamins that really help with health and weight loss/maintenance. I have lost 20 lbs since May 1st--190lb to 170lb and I really think it is due not only healthy eating but also these vitamins:
I LOVE apple cidar vinegar! It has really helped with cravings. I take one tbs. in the morning and one at night.
I also take Omega--3, Acetyl--Carnatine, Calcium supplement (make sure it has magnesium in it), Vitamin B complex, and Vitamin C, and a whole food supplement.
You can see that vitamins like Vitamin C and whole food supplements do not necessarily make you lose weight but they gave me a lot of energy for working out etc.
Let me know if you have further questions!

Thanks for that information..
I have to say I live in UK, do you know of any relaible dealers of the vitamins you mentioned in your post?
The reason I ask this is because I persume there are different strength capsules and some will work more efficiently than others
Thanks again for the advice so far, it was interesting to read about your luck with ACV and congrats on that weight loss
