Anyone tried the slimfast diet? How did it work for you. I've been having slimfast shakes for breakfast and lunch now for a good month solid and nothing much happening.

Hi Tracey,
I followed the Slimfast plan last year, however I soon grew tired of the limited availability of Slimfast products in Ireland so I just followed the calorie plan they give on the side of the shake tins and ate normal food within the calorie limits. Combining that with going to the gym for 40mins 3 times a week I lost one and a half stone and have kept it off.

I lost 15lbs (with considerable cheating since I LOVE carbs) with Dr. Wheeler's Gold Standard Protein Shake! A shake for breakfast (and one maybe for lunch if I was pressed for time) and low-carb meals and snacks!
Look at the difference between the two shakes! Note the sugars/carbs, the protein, the vitamins!!

Last year I drank a slimfast shake for breakfast and lunch and normally ate a salad for dinner. I was starving all the time, the stuff made me dizzy, it's loaded with sugar, and to top it all off I GAINED 5 POUNDS!!!!! If anyone is considering taking it, don't.

Same here, I didn't have a good experience with Slimfast. I was not happy after I drank those shakes and it didn't make me feel good. Worse of all, my hair started shedding.

CMO,
I have never heard of those shakes. Can you tell me, what is the sweetener? I don't use aspartame or sucralose. Maltitol, xylitol, and other sugar alcohols are very evil in my gut. Erythritol doesn't seem to bother me, but I can't say I'm impressed with the taste. I'm just curious. Thanks,
Frankie
P.S. The Slim-fast shakes (in addition to having the sugar alcohols) don't seem to help me at all. I have a few left from when I was doing Slim-fast, and I'm just using them up because I hate to throw them out. I want to avoid shakes in general, but I realize that every now and then, they're awfully useful to have around.

Hello! I lost 10 lbs. with the Slimfast shake/granola bars. I am not a big fan of the shakes so I stick witht he granola bars. It took me two weeks to drop 10 lbs but as we all know--half of it was water weight. Here is the key--you need to eat several times a day--I would eat three-four servings of fruit per day along with the granola bars (twice a day). I also found I was starving throughout the day and then would binge at night because I was emotional and soooo hungry. So, I basically ate fruit, yogurt, lowfat cottage cheese--to help me get through the day. I was still sticking to 1400-1600 calories. I took like a week off because I had a bunch going on so I put on like 4 lbs back. But, I started again this week and a, doing great! let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks

It sounds like there are a lot of different opinions circulating. Some say it works, others do not. Personally I never tried it and I don't plan to because it seems like the sugary shakes will harm your diet more then help it. I don't know if anyone else out there is paying attention to carbs, but Slim Fast shakes have only five less than Starbucks Frappicino drinks sold in bottles. Aside from that, I was skimming a CNN article today and it's found that if we try to replace our favorite foods with diet foods, we'll just end up craving more calories. For more information about this go to the health section on CNN.com.
I guess you never know until you experiment, but it's kind of risky for our bodies and our weights.
