hey guys after losing so much weight, almost 100lbs (and still trying to lose 20 more) I've been talking to plastic surgeons and preparing to have a body lift. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this done and if anybody esle is considering having this surgery.
At my first consultation the surgeon said I was a good candidate for the body lift and I agree with him, a tummy tuck won't be enough because I do have extra skin on my thighs, arms and buttocks. I've found a surgeon who specializes in people who have lost a lot of weight, and I decided to go with someone who specializes in this field because I want the best results possible. I'm getting really excited about this and can't wait to share with you guys my expierence.

thanks mavrick :)
On the bright side, my skin is loose, but not so bad off as some people have it. I met someone that had the same start weight as me (250) and has a lot more loose skin, but they also lost their weight in like 8 months, almost a 100lbs! That's nuts! My skin is bad, but the weight loss was slow so I think it did get a chance to shrink up a little. Yay me! So hopefully that will help when I have surgery, there's not quite so much to remove as someone who had gastric bypass, or someone who lost it really really fast.

I think I'm going to have the lose skin problem as well. I just came across this after looking for non-surgical (I'm not as brave as you) "fixes". http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm It may be pure BS, but it does make some sense. You might want to check it out as an alternative. Please note I'm not advocating buying the e-book, but the free read is pretty good. Plus, there is no risk of having a towel sewn up inside you this way.

Tontus- what a great article that was! I believe every word of what was said because I lived it once before in my life the first time I lost weight. It all 'unfolded' just like he said (pun intended).
Surgery is not the answer. It will only leave you scarred, and the skin that is left will still be too fat.
The skin is the largest human organ and can adapt and change to anything!

I would just like to add:
We tend to get caught up in a number on the scale where we think we should look a certain way with no regard for what our body composition is. This is where we go wrong...
The percentage of lean vs body fat is EVERYTHING.
Thats one reason that my goal weight of 180 is only a tentative number that will be correct for me only if my body fat % can get down to 10%. If I am still at 15%-20% body fat when I reach 180 lbs, then my new goal weight will have changed to 165 or 170 lbs.
It is my hope, that with all the weight training that I am doing combined with protien supplements, that I can keep up my lean body mass or even make lean body mass gains, so that 180 will be my magic number. My pinched rolls of flab on my stomach will be a thing of the past in another 25 lbs of fat gone.
I am currently 205, and most people look at me and say I dont need to lose weight. That is comical to me, I know better. My composition needs much work. When last I checked, my lean body mass was around 158 lbs. That means I have 47 lbs of total fat. That number for me needs to be more like 18 lbs of fat. In other words (after doing these numbers for the first time in a while) my new number might be 176 lbs.

Don't forget the otger way to lower your bf%. Building muscle mass is another way. I know I'm kind of screwed right now based on how much lean mass I've lost. I'm now thinking this is only phase 1. Phase 2 will be building muscle, phase 3 will be losing the fat gained during phase 2. Phase 4 will be gaining more muscle, etc. Hopefully I'll beable to do it in such a way where I'm not caught up in an endless cycle.
Anyway, surgery scares the #%@&! out of me. I can understand why you want to go that route, but the risk involved bothers me.

I read the article that tontus gave the link to and it was very interesting. The info in the article totally makes sense.
I know for myself at my current weight of 165 I have a lot of flab. I was this same weight many years ago and did not have the flab issues like I have now at the same weight. The only difference from then and now was that I had quite a bit more muscle then. I'm fatter now at the same weight because of the muscle loss. When I pinch my flabby skin areas it's definitely fat filled, it's not just thin skin hanging down.
Okay so how does one go about measuring lean vs fat? I know that I've built some muscle while I've lost fat but not much. Is it even possible to gain a good amount of muscle while trying to lose fat? I think I'll do a little research on that question.

| I found that calipers can measure body fat and some scales. I don't have calipers or a special body fat scale so I checked my body fat % on a few different online calculators. Some of the calculators wanted only weight and a waist measurement while some wanted height, weight, age and several body measurements. I'm guessing that this second calculator is more accurate since it's asking for more info??? Anyway, from that calculator I have 45 pounds of body fat which is 27%. Yikes, I still have a ways to go....................................................................................................................................

When I?óÔé¼Ôäóm in a rush to get dinner on the table (which is often), I turn to my freezer for help. I like to keep it well stocked with a few essential ingredients that will allow me to get a quick and effortless dinner on the table fast. Plus filling my freezer with healthy options makes it less enticing to run and get takeout. Here are a few of my favorite foods to have on hand and some of the recipes that use them:
1. Whole-Wheat Pizza Dough: With all the topping combos out there, I think it?óÔé¼Ôäós impossible to get tired of pizza?óÔé¼ÔÇØand with the dough at the ready, it?óÔé¼Ôäós a quick meal to pull together. Just take the pizza dough out of your freezer and let it thaw in your fridge 24 hours before you want to use it.

You can get that body lift with some work out regimes such as pull ups and weights. The work out shows gradual improvement and it would be good for you to follow this natural way of loosing that sagging look. You need to be high on your fruit consumption and also do some yoga exercises. However if you have planned for the plastic surgical option then all the best for that too.

Even I also went for Bariatric Surgery and now I am so happy with my surgery. I went with Mini-Gastric Bypass surgery for weight loss. It is quick, simple and aids in shedding those unwanted and dangerous pounds. It is similar to other gastric bypass surgeries in that a portion of the stomach is stapled so it is not used and a portion of the small intestines is bypassed.
Good Luck!!!

| My friend received a full body lift after losing 150 pounds 9 months ago. He is feeling numbness in the "belt" area where the surgery was performed and he also feels an inner itching feeling that he can't get rid of. Does anyone know if this sensation will eventually go away?
