Me too. Farmers would get fair prices for food. Disease would plummet. Medical science could concentrate on real disease and not the self inflicted ones. There would be less suffer and it would be very tough to get fat.
In reality here is what would happen. Gluttons would lose a lot of weight.
When I was a teenager I ate those all the time...that's probably why I gained so much weight. Maybe their bankruptcey is a sign that people are trying to eat healthier??
I think it's more of an economic thing - hostess is more expensive than the competitions people go for the cheaper stuff.
I'll get my hopes up when the trend of "stoner cuisine" dies - as in you've to have a major case of the munchies for a White Castle Surf & Turf Sliders with Cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella sticks in the middle to sound good. ( how do I know about this stuff? Because "Eat this not that" cracks me up!
Who cares if they're low calorie? a low cal version will just encourage people to eat a whole box at a time. Besides, I thought you told us we had to "re-educate our boorish palates"
If hostess doesn't make a 100 calorie Twinkie, I'm sure weight watchers does.

3 apples have 150 calories. A twinkie can be devoured in a few bites.
anywho!! Yea i'd be psyched if fast food and all that went away!!! Not only would it be less fat of a world.. but the temptation wouldn't be their and this world would so not have these problems. Wow.. that's quite a thing to think about. i kinda want to post that question on my Facebook account and see what they think... but I love the idea. and as for hostess... GOOD RIDDANCE!
I'll be honest; I would go into a deep depression. I watch what I eat 99% of the time, but the idea that I couldn't pop into a convenience store every once in a while for my candied orange slice fix would just about kill me!
There is nothing wrong with processed foods that moderation won't cure.

My vise is dark chocolate dove bars and chips with top the tater dip ... but I would gladly give them up to have a healthy lifestyle and body and be there for my very active little sister. :p and someday my own kids. :)
So, you are saying they are capable of passing up the food at the grocery store, but not at their home?
I believe that you have to make realistic, makeable goals and the thought of never eating Dove bars again might be unrealistic and crash the diet from the start.
After an injury, I was finally able to start some strength training on my Wii. I had one exercise set at 10 reps and i could not make past 3 reps until I quit. After trying that for a while I set the number of reps to 6 and I was able to do them. I more than doubled the amount of goals I did just because my goal was more reachable!
Some people can clear their houses of anything unhealthy, some can't. I'm just suggesting that everyone is different and if my suggestion doesn't work a person then they should try something else.

I would say out of site out of mind. They are tempted by junk food advertising. Like children they are weak minded. They have increased hunger and cravings along with low impulse control.

What is unrealistic about wholesale reform? Instead of them seeing their fat as the enemy they can see junk food and poor nutrition as the enemy. It's a matter of making substitutions such as 2 apples instead of a cube of cheese or low fat frozen yogurt instead ice cream.

I think incrementalism is the way to go but it has to be done with calories IMO. They can do fine with eliminating bad foods. Junks food to a glutton is like whiskey to an alcoholic. Like and an alcoholic they can't just have one drink. A glutton cannot stop at one Twinkie. They need to retrain their polluted palates but that cannot happen until they purge and clean their palates.

There is a difference between can't and won't. There is no reason for why they cant rid their houses of the substances that are killing them. That thinking IMO needs to be challenged. Ask the glutton for valid reasons to explain their behaviors.
