I forget what thread JS had this on, but he suggested some foods are best avoided for good. I agree, and I'm sure the "never again" foods vary from person to person. So here's mine, what are things you'd never eat again?
Anything with refined sugar corn syrup, or any sugars that didn't grow naturally in it (Like fruit)
Anything that involves fried dough (makes me really sick to my stomach) Probably anything fried, but that's just one of my pet peeves, why cook something in such an unhealthy messy, and potentially dangerous way? Plus it smells bad.
Anything that has trans fats in it.Last edited on 17 Sep 2011 06:12 pm by Tankgirl

My list would be much more specific. In fact I can only think of one thing right off hand for sure never again---honeybuns. A tradition I learned of after moving south. You can find them here topping 800 calories each dripping in syrup. I used to eat them all the time.

I've been doing my best to give up sweets in a complete and absolute way. Recent slip-ups: April buffet meal tried every single dessert and ice-cream flavour (returned to same restaurant on Thursday and did not touch the dessert table), July had a bunch of shorts of alcoholic drinks (full of sugar though!) August sampled 9 ice-cream flavours, and had a vending machine hot chocolate.
Yesterday I gave away the last 3 bags of chocolates. This is not the sort of stuff I have at home - these were 'my' chocolates but they were at mum's house. She dropped them off at 3pm and at 5pm I went to dish them out to some people who (apparently) don't have a problem with chocolate and they're no longer my problem
My sugar date is August 15th (that hot chocolate) and I'd rather it stayed that way. (fruit and dried fruit "doesn't count", but I count fruit juice as sugar)

| Didn't you get sick after all that dessert sampling?

At both the April buffet occasion and the August ice-cream occasion portion sizes were relatively small.
Thinking back to my binge-eating days, I could eat 2 litres of ice-cream in one sitting (before it melted) without incident.
I am one of those people with the capacity to eat a lot and at great speed.
The speed at which I consume sweet things and how I feel (want more) is the most disconcerting thing. It scares me. So long as I can remember this, I'll stay away.

| Doughnuts and other super sweet heavy cake foods like them. Also any cake icing besides cream cheese icings. I really can't take the super sweet foods, not only do they taste bad but they make me feel terrible.

Thought of another food on my "never again" list = white bread. My kids still want it but I won't buy it. They pack their lunches a lot and tell me that they are the only kids who pack that DON'T use white bread for sandwiches. So I tell them that I must love them more then any of the other kids' parents. Last edited on 27 Sep 2011 11:07 am by MichelleP
