Hello there. Well, I'm not a huge fan of Forums, but I've gotten to the make-or-break point. Here's my situation in a nutshell. Assistance and recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm male, 17, 6'1, 253lb, very self-conscious and am in desperate need to lose weight, aha. Over the last two to three years, my life has just been on a rollercoaster (parents divorce, depression, bullying)and I've just let myself go through all this chaos. As of the last 8 months, I've tried to get myself back in track (without success).

As of the last year, I've noticed that my weight has been going up, and it had started to take affect on my physical appearance (which is to be expected). Being the self-conscious person that I am, I try to limit going out to avoid "embarassment". And as of late, my go-to solution was to buy clothers that look good, and hide my weight gain (usually plad overshirts, etc), but I've realized I can't live on, relying on this illusion of clothes.

I've tried running consistently, doing all these silly workouts that I've found off the internet, but nothing has really made a dent over time. Parents wise, it's nearly impossible for my dad to think for himself, food wise. I'm the one who has to advise him what to buy, but I don't know a good healthy diet that I can make consistently. Google has failed me in that department aswell. In that, my father continues to buy junky food, and I try to resist temptation as best I can.

You know, I'm just disgusted in myself. With the chaos that is my life, I'm just getting more and more discouraged. This where I need you help!

So, my question to you all is how can I lose weight at a good pace? I need to cut 40-50 pounds over the next 5 months, hopefully.
-I'm not an expert, but if you can avoid serious workout routines, that would be great. I don't have gym membership, and doing anything activities at home won't be happening. The most I can do consistently is going for walks, and riding my bike while the weather lasts. If you know a successful workout routine, I'd be willing to give it a try.
-I'd hope to lean towards a healthy diet over serious workouts, as you can probably tell. The more specific, the better.

Thanks!

Exercise can have a small role to play, but weight gain and weight loss are mostly about food types and food quantities, both of which have an impact on your calorie intake and therefore your calorie surplus or deficit.

The smartest move is to transition towards eating produce (see bottom of the graphic) as that provides plenty of food and nutrition and at the same time less calories, allowing you to feel full but still create a calorie deficit.

If the answers don't instantly suggest themselves to you, perhaps it is an indication that you don't know them all already. Perhaps reading the book Eat To Live (by Joel Fuhrman) will help.

(Of course it is possible to get thinner without eating healthy foods. You just eat other foods but in very small amounts. That approach is actually harder because you feel hungry and unsatisfied)

I will leave you with a graphic
