Hi everyone! Please help to find out the issue with slimming teas.
I have heard they help to lose weight. Aren't they harmful? Should I drink some particular kind of teas?
Please advise!

Just tea with hot water will have very few calories,
so long as you also watch calorie intake in the rest of food and drink you can incorporate it into your diet.
if you are at a calorie surplus or not creating a calorie deficit, it will not help you to slim at all
and on the other hand if you are at a calorie deficit, you will lose weight whether you drink tea or not. But tea is not a harmful drink. In fact it is healthier than many other drinks.

| Very good information. Thanks for posting! I used to drink 2 cups of coffee with lots of sugar and creamer everyday and it always made me want to eat more, or it made me feel fuller than I already was. Now, I have been drinking hot tea (no sugar/creamer) every after dinner, and I can really tell the big difference. Tea makes me feel less bloated and in general, it is good for the body. It promotes good sleep as well, as I have noticed. Again, thanks for the input! Last edited on 8 Nov 2012 11:34 pm by textchx

I assume you are talking about those teas marketed specifically for weight loss. I've been wondering about those myself, since I know people who swear by them. However, in the past I've heard in the news of very bad outcomes for some people using them, so I tend to be leery of them myself. Here is what I would suggest to you:
Read the ingredients listed on the box. Look them up online and research any warnings or interactions, and also read reviews to see what others have experienced. Make an informed decision before you put anything into your body, even a natural herb. Everyone is different and there may be something that makes a particular ingredient unsafe for you. For instance, licorice can raise blood pressure, those with a high BP should know that. Also moderation in everything is safest. Good luck, and if you try them let us know how it goes.

You are talking about laxative teas.
...They work as a laxative alright. Just make sure to follow the perking instructions- I over-steeped mine and ended up with 2 days worth of stomach cramps.
