I've been wondering a while just what size our thighs are "supposed" to be. Because let's face it, there's one bone in there. One very strong bone, sure, but not a very big one. I googled around and saw women complaining about having 21" thighs, which kind of baffled and scared me. Are there women running around with 15" thighs or something?! I don't get it. Mine are 24" at the widest point right now and they are very visibly lumpy and fat and I want to lose some inches off them but I want to be realistic here, I want to know what's generally accepted as "thin" in that area. In my mind, thighs are like arms: they can only GET so thin before you're unable to physically move. I thought maybe this information could help me, and others, keep from having impossible standards or something. I don't even really know what I'm asking.

I guess I'd never really thought about my thighs.  I really just measure my bust-waist-hips and any thought given to my thighs is generally that they're too big, but the rest of me is too big, too.  For me its always been a proportion thing with them.  I wouldn't want an apple-belly and skinny legs any more than I'd want fat legs with a little waist.

Not that this probably answers your question any lol.  But it might help?

I would say to only worry about your waist/stomach area. If you have a nice waist, the thighs can be as big as they want to be...nothing better than a girl with some meat on her bones (especially below the waist!):yum:

Sexy is sexy, and you can't put a measurement on it.

why not worried about thigh size?

I'm a pear shape girl and my thighs is 20.I also have cellulite in this area and I've always want to have slimmer thighs.even though it seems really harder to lose inches over there, doing static bicycle will help.

by the way I agree it's curvier than an apple shape body:cool:

I don't know how you could have a standard size for them. My daughter when she did gymnastics and weight lifting...her thighs were big! Like kick your butt big... But, now that she is out of school and doesn't do that type of thing anymore. Her legs are really small.

So, even if you legs are big. Doesn't mean you out of shape. So, I don't know how you could have certain size for everyone without taking into account why there legs are big. That could even be the case of heredity. Cause, as much as we don't want to admit it allot of us take after one of our parents or other family members and some of those family might just have big legs. lol

I guess the way I would do it is just look at them and you can see where they are fat. Then strive to change that part of your legs and don't worry about the rest. Since I gained back some weight. I can definitely tell where that fat is sitting on my legs.

Slightly off-topic here but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for it.

Do you guys ever feel your butt after working out and think "oh god, I feel muscle! Does that mean this thing will NEVER get smaller?!" I'm going through that right now...sure, a firm butt is nice, but not when it fills up size 11 jeans...

I think you have the same body shape as me.more fat in thighs and butt.the good news is we will never have flat butts:wink: even if becoming too skiny it nver becomes flat.

bad news is as long as we have some fat over there it seems big.I avoid jeans because it makes it look bigger.

but it has nothing to do with muscles.as long as you're doing resistance training and you have cut down your calorie intake,at least it won't get bigger!

by the way that's my problem area too.so I'll be glad to hear the opinions.

This thread is funny!  I have 26 inch thighs that jiggle.  I'd love to see 20 inches. I don't know if it is possible...thanks to my Mom for the big thighs.

I was just curious, how do you know if you have thick thighs? I have a 27 inch waist, 37.5 inch hips, and 21.5 inch thighs, is that considered having thick thighs?
I am just curious because I have a hard time finding jeans that will go over my thighs-however if i do find some that fit over my thighs I can fit 2 of me in the waist. It seems like the jeans now a days are made for girls with 45inch hips and 10-15inch thighs. I am not fat in any way but have tried on over 200 different pairs of jeans and seem to have this problem with all jeans.

Hi Ash,

Great post! Honestly I believe the eye is in the beholder and everyone is the place we call earth has their different perceptions on how our body should look.

What I have learned is this, once I started to love my self I was able to improve myself and by doing this others liked and loved me as well..

I know this sounds like a cliche. But the inner world creates your outerworld"

Thanks
Your buddy
Wes

My measurements are almost the same and I have the same jean problem. I just tried 3 pairs this week and they're all really tight over the thigh and have loads of extra space around the waist! Hope to find a well fitting pair one day.

I think it is all relative: I have been steadily losing weight on the Eontu diet and it has been helping me lose weight from all over and at at steady rate. My thighs have always been quite big, but I think they are just a bit of my body that I focus on rather than them being especially over-sized. Now I am concentrating on eating sensibly with Eontu and looking at weightloss plans as a bit of a start to getting myself in shape, I don't worry so much about certain bits of my body. I feel healthy and can exercise more because I have lost so much weight, so I am concentrating on that. I hope this helps! :-)

When it comes to thinner thighs, there's no exercise better than a squats.
