Hello everyone. My name is Ricky. Here's a little about myself, my goals, and all that happy hooblah.

I am 24 years old and live in Charles Town, WV which is far east on the state's eastern panhandle. I am about 55 miles from Washington, DC and 60 miles from Baltimore, MD. As for a career I am a school bus technician at a school district in the DC area. I have career goals that exceed much higher than getting dirty up the my elbows everyday.

My 3 major hobbies are music, cars and the outdoors. With the music I'm a drummer in a funk rock band and am also endorsed by a major cymbal company as well as an up and coming drum stick manufacture. For the car hobby I have a little S-10 Blazer which is highly modified to go fast in a straight line (some may get that  ). During the spring I hunt turkeys, the summer I fish, and in the fall through winter I deer hunt. So that covers the hobby sector.

Now onto why I'm here. When I was in high school I was big into fitness - primarily lifting weights. At my biggest with weight lifting I was 245lbs and could bench press 350lbs and leg press over 1,200lbs. Then once I graduated high school access to a weight training room was no longer free and money to keep it up was short. A long story short... here we are 6 and a half years later, and I am almost disgusted with myself when I think of where I used to be and where I am now.

Two weeks ago I had a physical during which I had to tell my doctor to re-weigh me because I literally could not believe the weight she told me I was. 306lbs. I HATE to admit that I am that big. 306lbs. Oh my God! That day I went home and empty out my house of any junk foods and spent a lot of money stocking it with the good stuff. I then joined a local gym. My goal is to be in the shape I was in my senior year. First step is to lose the fat. Second step is to gain the muscle. Cool. I have the goals.

Now... what do I do about eating? I put myself on a diet which I am happy with. I took out all obvious bad foods in my diet (fast food, potatoe chips, etc) as well as all soft drink. My primary beverage is water. Honestly since that day I think I may have had one drink that was not water. My diet now consists of a lot of fruits and vegetables. I'm not boycotting meats, but I am staying away from large portions of it.

Ok... I'm in the gym.. now what? I designed a work out routine that I enjoy. First.. I'm having a ton of fun going to the gym and sticking to this. Here is it.

Monday - 45mins of cardio, 50 crunches, 1hr upper body strength training, 50 crunches, 25mins cardio

Tuesday - 45mins of cardio, 50 crunches

Wedneday - 45mins of cardio, 50 crunches, 1hr lower body strength training, 50 crunches, 25mins cardio

Thursday - 45mins of cardio, 50 crunches

Friday - break from gym - 2 mile walk around the neighborhood

Saturday - 45mins of cardio, 50 crunches, 1 hr core training and advanced stretching, 25mins cardio

Sunday - 45mins cardio, 50 crunches

I've already gotten myself used to this routine. I'm not at 287lbs. My target weight before I start switching my workout routine is at 220lbs for now.

I hope that this forum can give me some added inspiration as well as some useful information. Thanks!

Thanks, Kendra. I appreciate the kind words and welcome. The part of WV that you live in would be like a heaven to me. I don't know if you've ever been up around this area or not. If you haven't, it's more of a suburb of DC than the image you get when you think "Wild and Wonderful, West Virginia". It has its perks, but mostly its sad to see such a once beautiful area turning into concrete. I bet there's some good huntin' down your way. :chewing:

No I have never been that far up North before.  Yes, where I live is Wild and Wonderful WV.  There are some cities but it would only take about 1-10 minutes and be right back in the wood.  Lots and lots of great hunting, should come down this way sometime.  The only thing that I hate are the jobs, they try and starve you out in this state.  I would love to find a good job in a different state, but I love it here and my family is really close......Kendra

They do that here as well. If I were doing the same exact thing job wise in the state I would literally be making $10 less an hour. I have about an hour and a half commute to near DC, but it's worth it. Soon I'll be able to transfer to a closer location in the same school district though. We have decent hunting here. The one area that isn't grown up too bad is on the mountain near by which is where I hunt. Trophy bucks are kind of few and far between... but they're there.
