Hello, firstly thanks for having this forum here. It is support from others which gives us that little bit of extra help.

I am an English man living in Iceland. I am nearing 40, and for most of my adult life I have been eating badly.  I was smoking also, but I quit 2 months ago. I was getting warning signs that my life style was going to end soon either by death or decision.

I have been dieting and exercising for 2 months now. I weighed in at around 126kilos, now I am around 115 kilos. I still have a long way to go and I am quite impatient, but I keep telling myself that it is for the long term.

I am no stranger to exercise and in fact there is an athlete stuck inside me.

I need help and support with diet, calories, proteins, and all of that.

many thanks for reading
Tony

Hi Tony,

How do you like living in Iceland?  Was it hard to adapt to the climate and daylight hours?  Is it a challenge getting outdoors to exercise year round?

Congratulations on giving up the smokey treats!  I smoked off and on for a few years and regretted ever picking up the habit.  Although I have occasionally bummed a cigarette at times of extreme stress, I have not had a cigarette in over 6 months now and plan never to touch them again.

Good luck with bringing back the athlete in you.  It's my goal too.

Michelle

Thanks Michelle

This site is great! It is more lively than I thought it would be.

Iceland... well I didn't have too much trouble adapting because winter sets in over a few months and is usually pretty mild in Reykjavik (compared to the rest of the country). The first winter was fabulous because I love snow and photography and there were plenty of opportunities for both.  But, winter can be pretty hard! especially when it is for half the year.  My favourite exercise is walking, so it is not often that I can't do that.

Summer in Iceland is awesome, Iceland is the best place in the world during the summer!!

good luck with your journey!
