Hello everyone! I've been watching these forums (as well as using many of the other tools on this site) for a long time now. I really like this place, and I've found a lot of really helpful information here. I actually joined this site a while back.. but kinda got off track, and never really got back to using my account. It's been quite a while since then. But, I'm back now, with more than just a new account.. I have a whole new outlook on things!

I had been taking Phentermine (prescribed by my doctor) since January 5th, but I just don't want to lose weight that way. No offense to anyone who may be taking it, or any other medications to lose weight. But for me, personally.. I'd rather lose the weight slower, and keep it off, than to lose it all in 6 months, only to regain it. This was my third time to take Phentermine, and I can speak from personal expierence when I say that the weight is almost always gained back, faster than you can imagine. I'm just tired of going that route, and I'm through with the unrealistic expectations I've had. I didn't gain the weight overnight, and I'm not going to lose it overnight either. There is no such thing as a "magic pill", and nothing can take the place of healthy eating and exercise. I've always known that truth, but up until now.. I really didn't want to face it.

Real weight loss isn't about popping a pill every day, it's about hard work and dedication. It's a long journey, a journey I'm (finally) ready for!

I'm pretty short (5'4) and I'm currently in a 2X-3X in all my clothes. As far as size goes, my goal is to get down to somewhere between an 8 and 12. I have no desire to be "super skinny", which works for me.. cause I'm not built that way anyways! haha Seriously though, I just want to be healthy and in shape, like I used to be.. before I got so off track with my eating and everything.

At the beginning of the year, my goal was to lose ALL the weight by Christmas. But now, my goal is to just change the way I eat, and get back to exercising. If that means a loss of 100 pounds.. that's great, but if at the end of the year, I've only lost 50 pounds.. that's great too. I want to lose the weight, but I want to do it the right way. So, I'm not setting a goal to lose a specific amount by a certain date or anything.

I weighed myself this morning (for my ticker), but my real weigh-in day will be on Mondays. With today being Saturday, I'm going to skip this coming Monday, and just weigh-in the next week. I'll probably setup a diary on here, to keep track of my weekly progress and everything like that.

Well, this is a new beginning for me, and I'm really excited about it!

Welcome!!  It sounds like you have a great attitude and you are ready for your journey.  You are so right about the pills, its so much better to do it right and learn real habits that will help you get fit for the rest of your life.

Looking forward to reading about your progress in your Diary!

Mol

Thanks Molly! Yeah, it seems (from what I've read) that to have long-lasting success from those pills, you have to stay on them.. pretty much forever, or else the weight comes back. When I read a lot of what was on their own forums, that's what made me start to rethink that route. I don't want to be one of those people who reaches my goal weight, but has to take a pill every day of my life to stay there. It just cannot be healthy..

So, I'm doing this the right way. Not only is it healthier, but it's "real" loss, and not just gallons of water.. lol

Thanks for your support!
