Hey ya'll! This is Pony and I'm glad to be here. I need all the help, support and encouragement I can get in this war on my weight.
I was very skinny as a child but with overweight parents, grandparents and siblings. I started putting on weight in my late 20's when I went off birth control and we started trying to get pregnant.
In my early 30's, I was able to lose 30 pounds on a very strict eating plan... one I feel now does not meet the guidelines of being a true eating plan because I certainly wasn't able to eat that way for the rest of my life. And the weight slowly came back on = (
In my mid-30's, I was diagnosed with endometriosis, had several surgeries, was on hormone manipulation and I gained weight even faster. At 35 I had a complete hysterectomy, couldn't take any hormone replacement and went cold turkey into menopause.
Then I REALLY gained weight! I topped out at 165...I'm 5'4". My brother had already introduced me to running, which I totally loved and was running even though I was heavy...I was just slow and injured alot = (
I kept searching and searching for a way of eating that made sense to me and one I felt like I could maintain. A friend had signed up for Weight Watchers online so I was looking through her stuff and had a light bulb moment...this I could do!
So I ordered the points books off of ebay and started following the plan. Over the next 9 months, I lost 65 pounds. I have a very small bone structure. I maintained 98 to 100 pounds for 18 months until a doctor recommended that I gain 5 pounds since I was having trouble with nausea during my longer runs in marathon training.
I maintained 103 to 105 for the next 18 months and then we moved one mile away from my mom, who shows her love through food = ( I have slowly inched up and have been at 112 to 115 for the past 18 months.
I did not make good choices through the holidays and I haven't been able to run my normal amount because of shin problems. So, this morning I was 117.6. I'd really like to maintain 105 to 110 and that's certainly do-able if I can stay strong and run my normal amount per week.
Here's where ya'll come in! I need help staying strong. I need to know I'm not alone in this struggle...I need new ideas of things to try to fight the CONSTANT desire to eat. I need the motivation that comes from watching others succeed and me wanting to join them!
I think that's it = ) I like to help others, I don't mind answering any questions and I hope that I can give back to the group the support I hope to get myself!
thanks, Pony

Hi Pony,
Welcome!
I'm an ex-Weight Watcher too. I lost about 20 pounds on it and managed to keep the weight off for about 9 months, then my honeymoon happened, so as you can imagine I undid all my hard work. When I decided to get back into my Weight Watchers plan it wasn't working for me...the problem was that my metabolism had slowed to compensate for the lack of calories I was eating each day..I was only on 18 points but most days I would've only had 14. Now I've had to increase my calories to my RMR rate to kick start my metabolism again. When you add in exercise your calorie intake goes up as well, so I now eat 6 times a day which is way more than I'm used to..so I wouldn't worry about cravings..you don't have time to crave before your next snack time comes around!
Hope this helps!
Amy
