Hi!
I am a teenager struggling with my weight, but the problem for me is my sister. I have a sister who is two years older than me who won't let me lose any weight.
Whenever I don't eat a lot or want to exercise she starts nagging me about how I've got anorexia - even though I'm nowhere NEAR anorexia and she knows it!

I can't tell her this because she is depressed and she just got out from a relationship and she's got her own weight struggle. If I would say to her that I want to lose weight she'd take it as I'm saying that she's fat, since she weighs just a few pounds more than I do.

My sister doesn't like that I'm artistic and when I exercise she tells me that I just want to be one of those skinny artists in hippie clothes. She doesn't like if I get more tanned than her in the summer. She doesn't like when I buy nice clothes. But I love her and I know that if I told her how I feel about this she would feel like a horrible person and that is the last thing I want her to feel like in the state that she's in psychologically.

Now since I want to lose some weight I would love if I could get some advice on how to exercise without her noticing. It can't be exercises that make a lot of noise and it can't be exercises outside - my sister and I usually go out together and she would notice if I brought my workout shoes, got home sweaty, was away for too long etc.

I would also love some advice on things that I can eat without them seeming too healthy, even if they are.

Or just some support in general would be lovely too, thanks in advance!

And one more thing, I'm not a native English speaker, so bear my mistakes!

Going by your other post, your BMI is currently 21.2, and you want to go down to a weight that'll make it 18.6 (almost underweight, but not quite).

What makes someone 'anorexic'? it is about a fear of food, about "seeing yourself" as fat when other people think you are thin or even underweight, often it is also about eating an inappropriate number of calories.

Again from your stats (female, 17, 62kg, 1.71m) your unadjusted RMR is 1443 so make sure you do not eat below that number.

If you do, I will think you are unwise (because it will compromise your metabolism) and will lean towards agreeing with your sister that you may have an eating disorder.

So long as you don't eat much more than that number (for example, let's say you eat 1500 or 1600 calories) you should be able to lose weight - even if you are inactive.

Perhaps you could fool your sister into thinking you are eating a lot by eating lots of healthy foods that together only add up to 1500-1600 calories, some ideas here http://tinyurl.com/EatRightFree

I might be of benefit to start learning how to prepare food yourself. And if someone is cooking for you, you could suppliment what they make with even more healthy options. Then you can offer for anyone in the family, including your sister. I myself cook for a t-rex hubby when I am a raw food person. So I cook what he likes, but make him a green veggie juice before supper.

Oh wait wait sorry. I measured myself and made a mark on the wall and used a tape measurer to check to really get it right because I thought it sounded a bit odd when I read your reply that I'd be underweight if I lost my weight and now I found out that I'm actually 166.5 cm tall.

I'm trying to eat healthy food and exercise, but what's the most important part is to really feel healthy and feel that my body looks healthy so I'm focusing on gaining muscle. So my goal on 55kg is not the most important thing for me because I don't want to get it too much into my brain to lose weight.

I weighed myself today and it seems like 1 pound is gone or like 1 ?é?¢ but I don't feel sure of that since I'm a teenager and the weight goes up and down a lot during these years so I'll keep on doing what I'm doing and we'll see in another few days what's happened. I'm thinking of joining the challenge too to see what that can do for me!

Thank you very much for the advices!
