Hello!
I just turned 60 last October and, while I don't mind being a senior citizen, I don't want to be a fat flabby one who can't bend down to paint my own toenails or who huffs and puffs from walking from the car to the store (which is what I do now).
So, before my next birthday, I'm DETERMINED to lose at least one pound a week. I hope to lose more, but in the past I think I set unreasonable goals and then got discouraged because I couldn't meet them.
A pound a week seems very do-able and so far, in 4 weeks, I've lost nearly 10 pounds.
My first mini-landmark will be to break the 200 pound mark, which I hope to do in another 5-6 weeks or so.
I had great success years ago when I was in Weight Watchers, but once I quit going to meetings, the weight came right back on. Obviously, the key was having a support group -- so that's why I'm here.
I'm also keeping a personal blog of my diet. I figure that if I announce to the world what I'm doing, I will be less likely to quit.
Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and say HI and hopefully meet a few of you so we won't just be usernames to each other.

Welcome pound-a-week! I'm a senior citizen too. This forum really helps. Everyone is so supportive. I found posting a diary with food eaten every day in the diary section helped a lot, but some don't like to do that. Whatever works for you.
That is really good to lose 10 lbs in 4 weeks. Keep it up what you are doing.
