to have a generarlly healthier way of eating.
My tip - I like an author called Dr Joel Fuhrman. He has written a best-selling book called "Eat To Live" that describes a very healthy style of eating. He also published a book called "Disease Proof Your Child" how to get kids to eat that same way from as young as possible (with very minor changes because growing kids need a bit more fat in their diet). Either book is good but I guess as you're almost an adult probably the "Eat To Live" book makes a bit more sense. You can get the book from a library too.
Here is a visual representation of the healthiest diet

Milk is a source of calcium though it is not particularly effective (only 32% of it is absorbed - more is absorbed from other food sources) and the consumption of animal products in general (meat, typically) has an 'acidic' effect inside your body which is being neutralised by using calcium (removed from bones). So yes there is some truth there.
The other sources of calcium are healthy foods like beans and vegetables, so a person following a typical (i.e. unhealthy) diet might not get calcium any other way - so milk (or even worse, cheese) will be their most significant source of calcium

| I really like that chart! I'm vegan and I think it's the healthiest way to live, I love that people are catching on to that :)
