Let's all talk about cereal. For a while I was eating frosted shredded wheat, which claimed to be high in fiber. Today I decided to switch to Total, as it seems to be more nutritious and lower in calories. I always eat cereal with fat free milk. Does anyone know of any cereal better for weight loss than Total?

Yes, I second the Kashi Go Lean! I've stopped eating cereal for the time being and have switched to oatmeal, but I don't know of any cereal healthier than Kashi Go Lean. It is a great source of fiber, protein, and good fat, if you eat the Honey Almond Flax variety. Plus, it is more natural than most cereals, which is a big plus.

| For Kashi cereals I have to go with the seven grain flakes. Kashi is better then most cereals, but most of them still have too much sugar in them.

I use to hate cereal, but now I am able to eat cheerios and marshmallow maties (lol). I really think it's more of getting some sort of cereal that is healthy, that you can eat.
If I had to eat something I didn't really care for, every morning, then I would not do it.
So, my advise is to find something that is some what healthy that you can manage to eat everyday.

| I vote for good old fashioned Cheerios! It's difficult to find cereal that is as low-calorie as Cheerios (100 calories/serving). Plus I love Cheerios, so that's what I eat every morning and sometimes even for dinner.

go lean was my cereal of choice ofr a long time. mixed with yogurt, blueberries and cinnamon. yum
go lean crunch is really yummy, too. i think kashi, in general, is a good brand.

The Kashi cereals are great - Fiber One is tasty and so is Kellog's Raisin Bran (I specified Kellogs because it has more fiber).
I like cereal - it's quick and easy and with the above you get a nice bit of fiber to start the day. In the winter I do have oatmeal when I feel like something hot - though a little of the kashi tossed on some irish oatmeal adds some nice texture!

I usually eat oatmeal nowadays, but for the longest time I ate exactly 1 cup cheerios with 1/2 cup vanilla soymilk and 3/4 cup frozen fruit every morning, religously. It a came up to exactly 220 cals, which is pretty lowcal and pretty sweet, so my sweet-tooth would usually be satisfied for the day. I would still eat that every morning, but my parents don't buy soymilk anymore (its a little more expensive than plain ol' 2%) and I like that oatmeal is quite a bit more filling.

I was told by my trainer to stay away from all cold cereals as they are mostly sugar anyway. Unfortunate because I love cereal!
So if I must have cereal I usually eat old-fasioned Quaker oatmeal.
Although I was told to stay away from it I did try the Kashi GoLean crunch a bit ago which was okay but I really was amazed with the grams of sugar in it.
Just READ LABELS and INGREDIENTS and use your own discretion. That will tell you how healthy it is and how natural it is.

| I love cereal! But it is hard to find one that tastes good and is low in sugar. I bought the special k protein....yuck! I love kids cereals too! Coco Pebbles, Peanut Butter Puffs, Cinamon toast Crunch...mmmm all the bad ones.

I eat organic oatmeal with organic almond milk or Norganic oat muslie (apple blueberry) with organic almond milk again.
The latter is so yummy & crunchy with no added sugar, preservitives or any garbage & you can also have it hot
In general i find that commerical cereal is just cheap garbage.

The sugary commercial cereals are actually not that great. I'll take my plain-old quick oats oatmeal anyday. On the other hand, my sister can go through a 3 lb bag of cocoa puffs in like a week. I don't know how she does it or where she puts it....

So funny, i went shopping with my boyfriend (i don't take him shopping often because he is like a small child, he picks up anything disgustingly unhealthy & begs for it!) the other day who hates oats so i was trying to find him a reasonably heathy cerial.. but he chose these god awful looking coco flavoured wheet bix type things. To be honest the nutritional content wasn't bad but i was still suspicious about it & suggested he get something else but he insisted.
130cal per serve, low in sugar no artificial colours or flavours so i bought it. I asked him how it was today...he doesnt like it! rofl.

| Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal with Chocolate Whey Protein stirred in with a little touch of OatBran(about 300 calories). I used to do Cheerios with FiberOne and Whey Protein, but I am on a no wheat kick for a while. The Chocolate Whey Protein really adds flavor and only 100 calories.
