Hello . Recently i been thinking. I like cereal. Alot. I eat it when i come home from class.
But there are alot of brands and each having healthy stuff and such.
I was wondering which cereal is good for health. And possibly low in calories.
I don't like corn flakes. For which they have no flavor=S
Thats one of the reasons i like cereal. They taste good anytime of day.
Currently i've been eating Frosted Mini wheats. They are whole grain i like that. But they have alot of calories =S Not cool. But i still eat them. I guess corn flakes are good. But no flavor. No point eating them to me atleast =) Then there is honey bunches of oats. Those are good. But are the healthy? I've heard of K cereal or something like that? Well i was just wondering which is best health wise. and in flavor.

kashi makes relatively low cal stuff with lots of fiber and protien and all the good stuff. i like Go Lean, but the Go Lean Crunch is really good. no flakes! they have a pretty big variety out there. in fact, the Go Lean cruch feels like such of a sweet treat. it's great dry, too! (oh, and i am a cereal fiend!!!! i had to give most of it up when i went to lose weight... i still eat life cereal every now and then, though!)

Be sure to read the ingredients list, and this newsletter on Added Sugars will help.

As Peter suggests, you need to avoid the cereals that have added sugar if you are trying to lose weight. Tricky if you have a sweet tooth, as you liking for 'frosted' flakes suggests.
I have chosen, for a number of years, the cheaper 'fruit and fibre' (fiber to most of you) types. The fruit gives some sweetness, the nuts some good fats, and there's protein in there, too. A recent TV programme suggested that some cheaper brands even prove to be healthier options, as 'name' brands often contain more fat and sugar.
Bottom line - if you have a favourite cereal that's a bit 'naughty' and you can balance that against something more puritan in your diet, you shouldn't come to harm.
You should be aware, though, that a short time away from your sweeter choices will show you that they only bother you when you've had them recently. Given a reasonable separation time, you shouldn't miss them.
(I used to take two heaped spoons of sugar in tea; now I take none and find I enjoy tasting the tea. Previously, I tasted only the sugar).
Good luck in your cereal quest.
