Hi. I know there's a similar topic like this already, but I don't really need recipes. I just want to know the healthiest cakes since my family is planning to go to NYC for Christmas... and.. they're planning on eating cakes... and as a family... I also need to eat it..................sigh.....
so I'm wondering. If i were to eat a cake, I want to order something that's the lowest in fat and wont kill my diet.
I've read that angel cakes are not that fat. Is that true?
can someone help me get an idea of what are the healthiest cakes, maybe like a top 5 or 10.
or.... maybe I can order a pie or icecream if it's less fattening then cake?
HELPPP!!!

Angel food cakes ALONE do not have fat in them (although plenty of sugar). Usually it's the whipped cream it is often served with that is the problem. Try with just berries instead.
As far as healthy cakes... well I don't think you have many options besides the angel food cake. Honestly my advice is to focus on QUANTITY if you must have some cake with your family. Can you split a piece with another family member who might also be health concious? That's half the calories and fat right there! Devise a strategy to help you with this... ie get a cup of coffee with your dessert and REALLY focus on enjoying that with your SMALL bites of cake.
Whether pie or ice cream is less fattening than the cake... again I think it depends on the serving size. If it's a modest piece of pie with no accompaniment, then you are probably better off than with a big slice of cake.
Hope this helps!
