I have a question concerning microwaving veggies.  Can you steam them in the microwave or do they lose there nutrients that way?  I have always done that because it is just so easy.

Hi Carol,

Sorry to take so long to reply. Wanted to check with my Registered Dietitian.

Yes, microwave is one of the best ways to maintain nutrients. Steaming, too.

I usually put them in a glass bowl with just a little bit of water ( maybe 1/2 cup) and cover with saran wrap leaving just a little vent in one side.  cook about 5 min.  just long enough for the steam to do its job.
