i have recently discovered green tea.  I drink the Lipton brand one with the citrus in it, as green tea is rather bitter, and its actually not bad. Green Tea is said to have cancer preventative properties plus a who number of other pluses going for it..  There are other herbal teas on the market and i was wondering if anyone has tried them.. and what benefits u found them to have.. i also do drink camomile tea if i cant settle down to sleep at night and it works wonders..

so if anyone knows of any great herbal teas that taste good and do great things let me know :)

I'm a tea lover too!  Although mostly for taste reasons, not necessarily for the health benefits.  I do find myself brewing a cup of tea when I have the urge to snack for no good reason.  Gives me something to sip on until the cravings pass.
A few years ago, I splurged on some high-quality loose leaf green teas.  The flavor difference is enormous, and I've had a supply on hand ever since!  If you have a tea shop in your area, you might want to check it out.  Maybe a knowlegeable salesperson can help you choose one or two varieties to try?  If there's nothing like that near you, you can also buy online.  (I like store.teavana.com and their "Rooibos Tropica" store.teavana.com/54drooiboas.html is one of my favorite herbal teas).  Again, this is not a cheap option, but very yummy!!
Hope that helps.

I've gotten hooked on ginger tea -- there's a brand called Yogi Teas, all organic, and I buy their ginger tea, and they also have a lemon ginger available, too.  It's spicy hot and ginger is good for circulation and has a thermogenic effect, too -- although I'm not sure if that's true if it's taken as tea.  It's also naturally caffeine-free, which is better for the liver than caffeinated drinks and therefore better for weightloss, from what I've read.

I love tea too!! Especially with milk or cream (though at the moment I don't get to have milk or cream in my tea:(). My favorite is Constant Comment Bigelow tea. They have a decaf version too (which is good since I'm only allowing myself 1 cup of caffeinated tea a day at the moment). The other tea that I like at the moment (for a change) is Celestial Seasonings Apricot Peach Honeybrush--this one tastes good, but mostly I like it because it has a picture of a giraffe on the box :) I love giraffes, they're my favorite animal.

A lot of herbal teas, I think (sorry people that love them), taste like dirt. Especially Chamomile. One of my friends has a natural tea that she likes(I don't know if it's green or black or what), it's called Good Earth?? It actually tastes sweet without sugar.

Sorry this isn't really about green tea--I haven't found one I like yet :)

I work in a nursing home and it seems like within the past year green tea has become part of my patients diets (at their own requests )It suppose to be really good for ya. I find that when my daughter is sick she reaches for apple-cinn. tea with a tad bit of honey.Ginger tea also seems to ail sick people if you can stand the taste.I like green tea and regular tea but it don't like me.If you know what I mean.Like I said before.Green tea is good for ya so keep drinking.

I adore tea, especially Lapsong Souchang (a smokey black tea)!

You might want to consider a mint tea in the herbal arena. Side benefit is if you have a slightly upset stomach mint tea will settle it down.

and it is really worth the time to find a good tea shop.

A good tea shop should hve a high turnover (tea doesn't have the best shelf life) and only buy as much as you would use in a month or so. The one I go to has loose teas and you can smell the tea before you buy it and you can also get tea in small quantities if you just want to try something.

The sales staff will also know the teas well enough to describe them accurately.

Having said that I have had good luck with Celestial Seasonings, Yogi, Twinings, and Stash varieties.

Something also to consider with herbal teas is the steeping time. If you don't like the flavor initially, try a different steeping time.

Chamomile does not tast like dirt, it tastes sorta applely -- Ginsing tastes like dirt

My favorite green tea is made by Salada and funny, but one of the reasons I really like it is because it taste a little like chamomille tea. I love chamomille tea.

If people (like myself) don't like green tea, is dark chocolate a better alternative? I think it has some of the same cancer-fighting antioxidents but I could be wrong. I buy the 70% cocoa kind... less sugar and fat, surprisingly healthy... but should be eating in a small portion.

I drink green tea by the cupfuls. I never liked it before but now I have become adventurous with all different flavours. I love Jasmine green tea and blueberry green tea. I just bought a mango passionfruit one today that I am going to try later.

I always have a cup in the morning and one in the afternoon at work. Then at night I have two cups after dinner. I am not sure if it is making me feel better but I do feel better about drinking it. I have heard great things about it so I am going to keep it up.

Green tea, like other teas, is basically a no-calorie beverage.  The purported health benefits are basically free, so to speak.  Not so much with dark chocolate.  I wouldn't eat dark chocolate solely for the health benefits (better to eat spinach or carrots for that matter)... but if it fills a sweet tooth or a chocolate craving AND you feel it has health benefits - then enjoy in moderation.

Just my two cents.

PS - jasmine green tea is my favorite!  like drinking flowers!

Ugg....tea:sad:....

I myself "discovered" green tea months...perhaps even a year ago. I typically drink it every morning for the great health benefits, but I think I'm quitting tomorrow.

I have typically stuck to lipton/yogi brands and may occasionally try new flavors (only to find out they disgust me). I somewhat enjoy the taste of green tea, and like to think it's given me a health-benefit or two:thumbsup:, but this morning I suffered a bout of nausea followed by vomitting and the tea has now become the most disgusting thing to even consider injesting:thumbsdown:.

This is not the first time I've thrown up in the morning after breakfast. I've done this at least 5 times in the last 6-8 months. I always tie the nausea and sick feeling back to the bitter taste of the tea. I feel like I'm giving up a lot of great benefits here:crying:, but I can't see myself swallowing another cup for a long time.

I encourage you all to start/continue to drink it, but if anyone out there has a potentially weak stomach, I say: BE WARNED:shock:.

Oh shoot....to anyone who read my last post where I describe morning sickness----I AM NOT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN PREGNANT:shock:.

That's usually the first thing people think of when I explain my semi-frequent morning sickness so I feel the need to clarify this.....just in case.....
