ive been trying to loose weight by starving myself lately. i know they say that it doesnt get you anywhere and it'll all just come back to you and your metabolism will slow down and everything...
but im a runner.
and when u exercise and stay happy your metabolism goes up right?
so if i starve myself, and run and stay happy then shouldn't it be okay? my metabolism wont decrease but instead stay at a steady pace....?
and since im using my muscles wont it just eat right away at my carbs and fat and not my muscle?

and also if,when i do eat, i eat healthy things and take pills everyday...wont that mean that i wont really be storing in everything i just ate because there's no fat to it? O__<

thank you for your time,
:rose:, Alice.

I really can't answer your questions but it makes me want to ask some.

Like how can you have the energy to run if you aren't eating?

When you don't eat, your body shuts down your metabolism as much as it can to conserve energy. And to further conserve your fat stores, it turns to your muscle!

Your practice sounds very unhealthy to me and if it's not healthy it can't lead to anything good.

If you want to lose weight fast, eat highly nutritious, low calorie foods. You get good nutrition so you can make it your lifestyle rather than another unhealthy, crash diet that won't produce long-term results. For example:

I'm glad you posted and hope you get some other good replies. I'm glad you're asking questions!

Muscles burn calories for energy.

they also suffer micro damage from exercise and need to rebuild.  If you don't eat enough protein, this can't happen.

If you exercise while starving, there are no energy calories in your bloodstream, so your body has to get them from somewhere.

It's easier to burn muscle than fat.

All these things mean, like Peter wrote, that what you're doing isn't healthy and won't work in the long term.

If doing what you suggest would work, wouldn't someone have written the 'Starve and Run' Diet Book by now?

Eat 15% less calories than your maintenance level, take sensible exercise and lose weight at a safe rate.

That works.

i just want to add...i know a girl who is 65 pounds, 5'6, runs ten miles a day and eats 50 calories....50. a day.

shes anorexic and is headed for an early grave, this is true. but it can be done. its bad and wrong, but possible. you will need evergy to run, and like Peter said, eating lower cal foods will give you more energy and youll still lose the weight you want...veggies are great for energy, they fill you up, have fibre and iron and other great stuff, and youll be able to run as much as you like!

youre plan will most likely result in exhaustion and short term results...if thats fine for you, as it is with many people, myelf often included, then try it and see how you feel. if you are intered in long term and health, consider a much higher calorie diet, better foods and if you dont have an ED...dont try to acquire one. its not pretty and you could die- and youll die before youre thin enough.

that being said, good luck and try not to overdo it! start slow and see how it works...if you burn out, youll get discouraged and quit. let me know how it goes for you!
