I ran 16 miles
all to burn off yesterdays binge...and then I binge again today...
thats basically how I go from day to day...binge one day, burn it off the next and binge the same day....
I managed to go a day without binging the day before and I was so happy...
then its like oh i should reward myself with a donut and next thing i know i cleaned out the whole rack lol....the only reason i remain in shape is because I do ridiculous amount of cardio.I dont even throw up (i cant, even though sometimes I wish I could) I just burn it off in the treadmill
How do i fix this without having to go seeking professional help ?
I try going cold turkey, needless to say it never works.

hey
yeah, binge eating is a big problem for many, myself included. first, please don't wish that you could throw up. really, that just causes a whole slew of problems and doesn't fix the binge eating part. second, try wrting down how you feel before you start to binge. what makes you feel like you need to eat? are you hungry? are you bored? are you doing it out of emotional issues? this might help you find out why you binge, as well as distract you from actually binging. that's the first step of controlling the issue- finding out WHY you are doing it.
beyond that, once you have started to figure out the reasons behind binging, you cn really start to work on the problem. it's a long process... and yes, you might need to seek professional help (are you in school? can you talk to the school nurse or a counselor?) sometimes these issues go a lot deeper than where we can dive to on our own, and there is nothing wrong with getting help for it.
if you figure out why, try to prepare for it the next time the desire to binge hits. but that is all based on the reasons why you binge in the first place. there are various tricks you can use- drink a huge glass of water so you get that "full" feeling. binge on veggies so you are getting something healthy and will be filled up quickly. or maybe just distract yourself- get out the kitchen, go outside, so to your room- aything that will keep your body and mind away from food for a little while.
i hope this helps and please keep us posted on how it's going!

I'm not a expert or anything but maybe you should stay away from those highly sweet and carb'olisious foods. As it looks like those are food triggers.

Thanx..thats a good idea to write down how I feel before doing it...Ill start trying it..
I really dont want to seek help...I wanna fix this myself and put it behind me and move on.But I doubt thats going to happen....If I continue to not be able to stop I will be forced to talk to my counselor....
Sometimes I do manage to go cold turkey but it doesnt matter because It only lasts 3-4 days....Its so hard to stop yourself, but its the easiest thing in the world to start and once youve started before you know it you allready gone too far.
