Hey guys!!! IT just seems to me that we're never happy with ourselves!! It sucks. It's strange because notice how whenever we're feeling sad or even happy we tend to think about food and how we should eat goodies. It just makes us happy! Anyways, I've realized that if you want to actually accomplish your goal with your weight gain or loss...you first need to be mentally happy and not depressed. I?óÔé¼Ôäóve been going through some tough times?óÔé¼?ª..with this long-term relationship. nOW THAT I'M OVER IT... i've accomplish my goal..which was to loose 20 pounds!! yeah!!! One of my friend's brothers works at Universal and had introduced to this artist, Tracy Bonham. Her new Album, "Blink the Brightest" it Rocks!! Has anyone heard of her? It helped me get over things quicker!! Now i am happy with myself..emotionally and physically!!

It's funny how being happy and having fun makes us think about eating. Humans are so weird. But it is true.
So, I'm curious how a CD, helped you? Just good music?

| well listening to music that i can relate to has always helped me. I feel like other people can relate to me too!!Especially through break ups. Since me and my boyfriend just broke up i started becoming depressed and listening to her c.d gave me a different perspective about love. Tracy's lyrics are just amazing!!

| I tend to eat less when I am depressed and/or sad.

I totally agree with the fact that our ways of relating to food are so related to emotions - whether we eat less or more. Actually the definition for clinical depression only states that there must be a disturbance in eating habits.

Sometimes for me food feels like my "only" pleasure and if that is the case DO NOT EVEN TALK about taking food away. I am unable to eat in moderation when that is the case. Realizing that I am that way, I have been trying to bring other pleasures into my life. The thing that is really helping me right now is there is this guy at work who I can talk to very honestly for hours and I REALLY enjoy talking to. I'm getting some of that missing pleasure from talking to him, so I don't need to eat as much. Part of it is that I want to get to a more attractive weight so I can find someone like him to be with outside of work (he's been happily married for 35 years).
Other pleasures I've added recently are walking outdoors amid beautiful landscaping, making lots of plans with close friends, exploring new music, and going on weekend getaways. So I guess in a way I needed to be happy before I started losing weight. Losing weight also MAKES me happy, of course.

I was watching the show Half Ton Man again Sunday and some of the experts/doctors were talking about how they think some people lack enough dopamine in their brains to signal when they're full. The fascinating part was that they said anything you like such as music will increase the dopamine in your brain. Music makes me feel better physically.
The comment about liking yourself reminded me of something I read about how taking care of your body/health before losing weight will help you lose weight. The authors discussed how people wear ill-fitting clothes, especially underwear thinking they don't deserve to be comfortable until they're at their ideal weight. It's like by taking care of yourself, you're actually doing your body a favor--hope that makes sense. Anyway, the less critical I am on myself, the better I do on my weight.
