Eating 400 calories a day is pretty much NEVER healthy.  Even if you want to lose weight, you should do so at a reasonable calorie amount.  At 400 calories, there is no way you can be getting enough nutrition to stay healthy.  You NEED fat in your diet to absorb certain nutrients, carbs for energy, and protein for muscle.  If you're eating so little, then you're NOT losing just fat--you're losing lots of muscle.

Rather than eating so little, why don't you increase what you eat (with healthful foods, of course, not just junk) and try working out?  You can actually go down in sizes by toning with stregth training exercises even if you don't lose a single pound because muscle takes up less space than fat.

On another note, I would seriously consider seeking professional guidance.  Perhaps a counselor, doctor, or dietician could help you to figure out why you feel the need to be a size 00.  Not every body is meant to be so thin--some people have bigger hips, some have bigger bones, some have bigger boobs...no 2 bodies are the same.  Why do you care what size anyone else wears?  I would give my right arm to be a size 6!  I'd MUCH rather be a toned, healthy size 6 than a bony, sickly-looking size 00.  Don't you see how all the stars who are so skinny are getting pointed out as being unhealthy and having eating disorders?  Some examples include Nichole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Mary Kate Olsen...you'll never convince me that the look of protruding bones is very stylish

XxPrincessXx,

This Newsweek article will explain how serious anorexia is and how often it kills:

Fighting Anorexia: No One to Blame

As jillyban720 suggests, you should discuss it with a professional. At least then you will know what you are facing.

You asked what I think. I don't even know your height, but I suspect that you do have an eating disorder.

Are you skinny? well, there are two aspects to the answer. First, you may have a perception of yourself as fat when you look at yourself in the mirror. You might find the tiniest amount of fat to pinch anywhere on your body and be unhappy about it. We are often our biggest critics. I prefer to use the objectivity of numbers (weight, body fat%, BMI etc.).   Secondly, if you have got to where you are through crash-dieting and practicaly starving yourself (and it sounds as though you have) then muscle loss is inevitable. Two people can weigh the same - the one with the more muscle will look toned and more 'skinny'. That could be a factor.

When looking at the weight-loss efforts of overweight people, the number one problem is those who think that a bit of exercise will lose them weight (but it will not if they continue to consume vast amounts of calories - they'll become fitter but continue to gain fat). The number two problem is with those who over-restrict calories. The paradox is that the most effective way to lose fat is to restrict calories - but only by a very small amount.

My friend has just paid for his daughter to have a breast enhancement. You see, when she was growing up she had an eating disorder. She restricted calories and as a result she did not develop. That is something you may wish to take into account.

I'll add my voice to the choir - please see a councillor, a nurse etc - check out what your school has to offer.

Dear Princess,

U did ask so I will be honest with you as I have nothing to gain nor lose cause I dont know U.

1.) I know what I am talking about cause I was there once too. I know how you feel

2.) You will always (NO MATTER IF YOU ARE A 00 OR a 6) find someone who thinks you are fat and someone who thinks you are skinny as a twig.

3.) I can guarantee that your view of your physical body is WAAAAY distorted-you cannot be your judge-you are too hard on yourself.

4.) If you dont get help and TRULY WANT to work on yourself and your health-you can REALLY screw up your metabolism so that in a short period of time, you will not longer be able to lose weight because your body will always think you are starving and it will HOLD onto the food you eat unless you start to CONTINUOUSLY feed it what it NEEDS...not what makes you happy or "look like a star" in the mirror.

5.) There will ALWAYS be someone skinnier and fatter than you. ALWAYS no matter what. You can also get to a competitive point and be near death trying to be the thinnest person on Earth....did you see DYING to be THIN? It is a scary and powerful thing to watch.

6.) From all the yo-yo diets and crash diets and programs I have done, my body no longer trusts me and my metabolism is very slow now.  I dont want that to happen to you. I am trying to save you the pain and suffering. I think like Nir said you should seek help RIGHT away!!!!!

7.) Everybody on this website WANTS you to be healthy and reach your goals. You are free to talk here. We are supportive and honest for the most part.:apple:

Princess,

I don't know if you noticed? but i too answered you (but on Kyle's thread) on the end.

forum25/1209.html

I want to add, that your *worth* is not measured by your clotheing size numbers, or even by your weight numbers, and that the health of your body is the most valuable thing there is.

I hope you can find the way to start talking about your feelings, and perceptions/ideas with your mother.  And too I hope that she can respond to you with love and support.

I have nothing really more to add, every-one in this thread, already gives the important points to you.

Take Care of yourself.
