As someone with a binge problem I wanted to know what everyone else does motivation wise to get back on track after a long binge?
I usually start worrying about passing my bad eating habits onto my son and feeling the need to improve my eating habits to improve myself as a parent.

I NOT ONLY BINGE, BUT I PURGE AS WELL. ONE THING THAT OPENED MY EYES TO MY UGLY PROBLEM IS THAT I GAVE MYSELF A HERNIA FROM ALL OF THE PURGING. WHEN I REALIZED WHAT I HAD DONE TO MYSELF, IT SCARED ME TO DEATH.
I WENT TO MY DOCTOR. I FOUND THAT I HAVE SOME TOOTH EROSION AS WELL AS THIS HERNIA. I ALSO HAVE LEARNED THAT MY BINGES AND PURGES ARE EMOTIONALLY PROVOKED. I HAVE THE NUMBERS OF A COUPLE OF THERAPISTS, BUT I CAN'T GET MY COURAGE UP TO CALL THEM.
I, TOO, HAVE A SON. I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SAY THAT YOU WORRY ABOUT PASSING ON THE BAD HABITS. I AM ANXIOUS FOR ANY ADVICE THAT ANY ONE MIGHT HAVE.

I'm so glad you were able to go to your doctor, it takes a lot of courage to get help for these problems. I'm still trying to talk myself into seeing someone (a therapist maybe?) for my binge problem. But let me tell you, it's hard, I can't seem to get past the idea that a therapist might just say "stop being a pig and control yourself!" Sometimes I say the same thing to myself .
