Here's my dilemma - I can't decide between the 2! I exercise 2-3 times a week (categorized under light) but with a moderate intensity for an hour each session. Other than that, I'm either at my computer or fulfilling my womanly duties (aka shopping or just strolling the mall lol).
Is it more of the intensity and duration of the workout that defines activity level, or the number of days per week?

Between intensity, duration and frequency, I think the key factors are 1) duration and 2) frequency.
Putting it another way, you can figure out whether you are 'light' or 'moderate' by independently calculating how many calories you burn in a typical session, multiplying by the number of sessions you have and then dividing by 7 (7 days in a week) to get your average extra calories burnt per day.
Using me as an example: my unadjusted RMR is 1400.
Increment from 'sedentary' to 'light' is 0.175 x 1400 = 245 calories. (and it is the same increment again to go from 'light' to 'moderate')
In my case I exercise 7 days a week so 245 x 7 / 7 = 245 (you would be using 2, 3 or perhaps 2.5 as your multiplication factor)
So I ask myself: do I typically burn 245 calories in a session, or more like 490? In my case the 2nd one is a better (or perhaps 368, halfway between the two?).

Hmm.. I will try that method and see what I get. Thank you for the response!
