Of course they're ok... why wouldn't they be? Green beans are healthy... it would be best if you got a can of organic ones. I also think frozen ones are even better for you... but that's just my opinion.

You just need to watch the salt, some brands use too much salt in the packaging process. (That's one of the reasons fresh/frozen are the better choice.)

How do you cook green beans?  I used to love them too, but I thought the only way to cook them was to fry them in grease.

Fresh green beans can be simply boiled, they're great in stir frys and I like them oven roasted after being tossed in a little bit (very little!) of olive oil. (you can even get fancy and add a few slivered almonds before roasting them - good fats!)

After cooking a little sprinkle - again little!- of salt is good.

They are also good cold in salads.  So make extras!

I always just microwave a can (not in the can of course ). They're a really good snack, filling and healthy!

Yes, I second what Midge said - you gotta watch the sodium. A normal-sized can of most vegetables often has between 1/2 - 2/3 of your entire daily limit of sodium.

You can buy no salt added green beans, but it really is just best to buy the fresh. If you're going to take the time to eat veggies, you might as well make it as optimal as possible. The more you process any food, the more nutritional value it loses.

I steam fresh ones too, in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes untill just cooked. Then i run them under cold water to stop them cooking (it doesnt make them cold) it turns them bright green & they are great to use with dip or dressed in a little balsamic vinegar or mixed with canned tuna

They're high in fibre, vitamins k, c & a

Green Beans FTW.  My supermarket has fresh ones when they're in season around here, but always has canned with no salt added on the shelf.  There are times when I heat and narf down a whole can.

I did grow some in my garden this year.  I love picking fresh veggies, washing them, and eating them.  Too bad it's fall now.

Green beans have tons of fiber in them. A very healthy food choice.

I like to get fresh snapping beans. They are great when cooked with red potatoes...

I also like steaming them....
