I typically hit a plateau around 25 pounds, give up and never lose another pound.  I'm at just over 28 pounds now and I am seeing the weight loss slowing down considerably.  I'm getting concerned for a number of reasons, but namely that I want to stave off the plateau as long as possible and keep dropping the weight.

Recently, I had two weeks with 2.75 pound losses in a row, then a week where I lost 1.25 and then this week where I lost only a half pound.  I've looked at my food intake and exercise and during the weeks where it started to slow down, my calories ranged from 1457-2544, for an average of about 1700 per day.  In terms of exercise, I had less days where I worked out, but my average length of time was longer than on the weeks where I had bigger losses.

I'm not sure what I should be doing to make sure this doesn't grind to a complete halt.  Any suggestions?

Your body might be getting used to the new ways you workout and/or eat. Try shocking it with something new? A New workout, perhaps, or various lengths each day; like 30 mins one day, 60 another, ect ect.

Best of luck!

Approach #1 is to be consistent, making sure you eat no less than 1576 on any day (and still shooting for 1700 calories), try for 2 weeks, if you lose at (say) 1lb/week just keep going.

Still no loss -> aproach #2 (which is a gamble) is to drop calories to 1200 calories most days (obviously of very healthy filling foods)

Thanks, Nir...you're so helpful!  I'll start with approach #1.  I know there were a few days where I hovered around 1400 and then other days where I was at like 2500, so I definitely need to be more consistent.

I also haven't been swimming in a week and a half which burns mega calories, so I'm sure that's had something to do with it too.  I'm going tonight though and ready to BURN!
