Hi!
I?é??m new to this forum, been checking a few sites out over the last couple of days and this seems to be the best one I?é??ve seen. I live in Spain so you would assume that I have access to a very healthy diet, as I am sure it is published that the Meditterranean diet is a good one.
During the year after I finished school my weight started to creep up and before I knew it I was up 35lbs in a year. I know it is not a huge amount but I had always been a smaller frame and when I realised that I had gone from 126lbs to 161lbs in just over two years I was really shocked!
Since last year I have managed to lose 18lbs just by being a little more active - I go swimming in the sea most days and I do not eat "junk" food any more. I drink a lot of green tea and water but I seem to have come to a complete stop since May this year.
The truth is that at this time of year (July - September) it gets very hot here and my appetite shrinks to nothing. I find eating a meal makes me way too hot, so effectively I hardly eat at all. I also know from reading this forum all day that I need to eat some food if I want to lose any weight! I was on target to reach 126lbs by 4 1/2 weeks time (end August) but think that would be unrealistic now. This week I have started a greater exercise plan which includes toning work to my arms, stomach and legs and have begun to walk to the beach and back each evening (about a 5 minute car journey) taking a walk along the beach front at the same time (about 30 minutes).
So what else can I do to get back on track? I have heard that brown rice is a great help, and I plan to start eating more tuna (is tinned tuna ok? The fish counters here are great but I don?é??t always have time to get to the fish store each day and then prepare the meal). I am good at eating my 5 portions of fruit each day!
I think the reason I have come to a stop is beacause I am not eating anough. My body must be on starvation plan no? Maybe I should have stated at the beginning I am 21 years old, female, 5?é??5?é???é??, 143 lbs. I am so determined not to let this weight issue get me down again, I want to lose it carefully but not TOO slowly...any suggestions for me?
What is the realistic time line I should prepare for myself to shed the final 20 odd lbs?
And my final point, to all of you who have had success stories, you are such an inspiration to us all to keep at it!

Hello- "They" (whoever "they" are) say you can expect to lose, on average, 1-2 pounds a week if you are eating healthy and exercising regularly. But everyone is different and lose at their own pace. I think it is difficult to say I am going to lose this much weight by this date. That is a lot of pressure to put on yourself. I think it is important that you continue to eat enough. I know when it is really hot I do not feel much like eating. I try to eat cool things like sandwiches (turkey on whole wheat), fruits and veggies, salads, and fish. I feel like they are "light" foods and easier to eat when it is HOT outside. As far as tuna goes, here in America we (well at least me and the people I know) do not go to the meat market very often at all. I have never bought fresh tuna. The tuna I eat comes in a can, or better yet we have tuna that comes in a pouch and you do not have to drain it. Brown rice... again, "they" say it is always better to eat brown, so brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc. Good luck. I hope you are able to shed those last 20 pounds!

Hey, thanks! You?é??ve confirmed what I was thinking and really helped. I?é??m down 1lb now...at the beginning its so frustrating because 1lb is neither here nor there - like you can gain and lose lbs by eating and ... but its a start! Thanks so much for the positive feedback though, hopefully this will be the final leg of my journey (oh how dramatic!!!!). But I have discovered a problem..I can?é??t buy brown rice in the supermarket!!!!! I shall persevere on my quest...
Thanks again for the feedback :D
