I have been getting alot of advice not to eat alot of starch lately, and usually I don't.  But it has made me wonder if 100 calories of broccoli is better than 100 calories of choclate.  Besides nutrition and volume (100 calories of broccoli is quite a bit).

For me, the question is irrelevant because I do care about nutrition and volume. But to answer your question, yes. 100 calories of a healthy food will help you lose weight faster.

I believe this will explain why:

P.S.

Good question by the way!

On the other hand, if you are talking about excess calories, over and above your maintenance number, then you'll gain weight with 100 calories, whether they're broccoli or chocolate. It is possible to gain weight with healthy food choices if they amount to too many calories. A particular pitfall with healthy avocado and nuts.

I think something heavily processed like chocolate affects our bodies in more (negative) ways than we understand.

Then there's this:

Then again, how many times have you eaten more chocolate than you wanted to? And a little more might be 250 calories.

And if you did eat more broccoli than you wanted to, what was it? 25 calories?
