According to the calculator on the front page, I should be consuming about 1724 calories a day to reach my weekly goal. If I'm under that figure, not on purpose but just by chance, is that bad? Is there a point at which it will do more harm than good? For example, I may only reach like 1200 calories today so I'll be short about 500. Would that be completely horrible as long as I'm not starving or fatigued in a negative way?

(It is probably worth mentioning that we recommend the use of the RMR calculator (located under the 'Calories Burned Calculator' link top left of the page). The front page calculator is a LiveStrong.COM calculator, I guess you'll have to ask them what it is they are calculating!)

(some stats received via PM)

Your unadjusted RMR is 1532.

Generally the advice is to not eat below that but because your BMI is above 30, it is even OK to eat below that (say as little as 1200).

If you wanted to, you could continue to eat the higher numbers on the days you wanted to eat, but not freak on or be at all concerned on the days you eat less - or you could just eat less all or more of the time.

(When you lose more weight it might make sense to increase your 'bottom line' to 1300, and then 1400 and 1500.)

If you in general feel 'attached' to your higher calorie intake, that could be because you want to make room for calorie-dense foods. With the most nutrient-dense foods (vegetables, beans, fruit) even 1200 is a feast.

Slow-and-steady is a "moveable feast". At ~100lb it should be around 1lb/week, at ~150lb it should be 1.5lb/week, at ~200lb it should be 2lb/week, at 400lb it should be 4lb/week etc.

I thought that other figure sounded high but I didn't know that calculator on the front page was bull. I used to stick to about 1200/1300 so I'm going to aim there again, thanks!
