HI, I started a diet about 2 weeks ago and have been gaining weight on it. My diet consists of a smoothie in the morning (1 banana, 5 strawberrys, 1/2 cup non fat yogurt) 1 granola bar for snack, turkey sandwich for lunch with a slice of cheese, 1 granola bar for snack and a single serving of pasta for dinner. I also consume approximately 1 gallon of water throughout the day. I've been feeling that I've actually been gaining weight this whole past week. Anyone have any suggestions, stats are 6'8'' around 310lbs.

| Are you stressed? This may contribute to weight gain.

I would be aiming for about 2000 calories a day. Are you able to estimate your calorie intake?
If after a short while you're still stuck consider further cleaning your diet. In your example day I would remove animal products (cheese, turkey, yogurt) and refined carbs (granola bars, bread, pasta)
What would it look like if you got at least 90% of your calories from vegetables, beans and fruit?

I perhaps got the answer to your question.Banana plays a chief role in weight gaining and you are intaking it on regular basis.Mostly it has been suggested to thinner people to intake one banana a day inorder to gain weight. So from now stop taking banana in your perfect diet and I am sure you will feel some changes.

Bananas aren't necessarily diet killers. They are just one of those fruits naturally high in sugar. On a diabetic diet, one half a banana is considered 1 fruit exchange because of the amount of sugar.

Yes but again, bananas are the main reason for gaining weight. Also OP you should check your diet without banana, so you will know whats the reason..

For weight loss you want to be around 1500 calories per day. Here are some weight loss tips that I have seen work well.
Here are some weight lose tips that have worked well for me!
- Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are very healthy for you. They have a lot of fiber and antioxidants. In addition to this, eating raw fruits and vegetables will make you feel fuller, faster! The amounts of calories that fruit and vegetables have are really low. So be sure to eat plenty of them!
- Eat In Proportions
Never overfill yourself. Eat until you are satisfied but do not overeat. Remember, you can always pack food up and save it for later. Remember this tip when you got out to eat at a restaurant or fast food!
- Frequency
Instead of three big meals a day, eat less but more frequently. Doing so will keep your blood sugar levels in check. It will help avoid a calorie overload. Try to eat 5-6 small meals in a day.
- Better Choices
Avoid fast food and processed food, they have more sodium and fat. You can lose weight just by eating home cooked meals.
- Be Consistent
Do not jump into eating healthy right away. Allow yourself time to eat some of the foods you really like. A consistent change will give you more hope than a quick change and failure. A slow progression will give you faith about your overall progress.
- Understand Food Nutrition
Fat free claims on products do not necessarily mean that the product is low in calories. Read the nutrition facts on the label to avoid foods that are high in sugar and fat. Do not be fooled by misleading labels that can be put on any product.
- Water
Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day. It helps to avoid pop, coffee, and anything else loaded with sugar.
- Exercise
Exercise for 30 min 60 minutes each day to burn off calories. This is one great way to lose a lot of body fat.

Hi Rugger88,
Do you know whether or not the weight you've gained is fat? If it's not fat, then a little bit of weight-gain is good.
