Hi, I have a problem, but I don't know where is supposed to write in this forum.

So, I am on diet from 17th June 2011. I was 77 kg 1,57 m, 22 age, female - very bad.

Currently I am 72 kg, but today I was 73,5 kg - why? I am on my diet and I can't understand - I am in 72 kg from the last week, I can't weight loss?!

Thanks for the answers.

Just checking - is your height 157cm?

How many calories are you eating? If you cannot answer the question, that is part of your problem.

Ignore any generalised information you find that tells you to eat 2000 calories, that will be far too much for you.

You need to eat about 1300-1400 calories per day. You need to either count your calories, (or change the types of food you eat to exclusively be low calorie things like vegetables fruit and beans) the thing to realise is that if you eat 1700 calories a day, you are maintaining your weight not losing, calories are everything.

If you have the time and inclination, do some activity to burn calories - it can accelerate your results, enlargeing your deficit (but don't eat more just because you exercised)

Yes, 157 cm - thank you very much - I think \when I calculate - these days I was eating about 1800 cals.

I don't use more elevators, I walk 2 bus stations on feet and on Saturday and Sunday - I'm biking about 1 h, but I don't want my calf muscles to start growing up more or my hips - these are my bad zones if you understand me.

My measures in the beginning were:

77 kg - >103-83-107

and now:

72 kg -> 102-70-99

Usually what I have seen is that people often go for diet which is almost or near starvation which leads to minor weight gain as body starts accumulating excess fat, carbs and protein from food intakes, it?óÔé¼Ôäós a form of survival instincts. Try some exercises such as cardio which converts fats into muscles and reduces calories.

The best tips I can give you for not looking like a body-builder are to:

1) be female
2) don't take steroids or other drugs

this is a flippant way of saying that, because you are female and are not on drugs, your testosterone levels are about 1/10 of a man so the odd of getting more muscle than you want are practically zero. As a woman you will have to work very hard to gain muscle. Muscle does not happen "by accident".

A minority of women are 'mesomorphs' and find it relatively easy to build muscle - but as with everything it is "use it or lose it" their muscle will quickly disappear if they don't use it regularly!

some of your workouts (say twice a week) should be resistance workouts (with weights, or 'body weight exercises' like push-ups) so your entire body gets a workout.

the rest of exercise is mainly for burning calories to increase your deficit (with the added 'side benefits' of fitness) so it can be whatever you like - the "best sport" is whatever you like which will make it more likely that you will stick to it.

My personality seems to fit best with exercise classes. Other people like to do exercise videos, or use cardio machines, or cycle or run outdoors, jump rope, go hiking, join transformation challenges, play computer-based dancing games or indeed (as you are hinting at) do a sport.

It does not matter what the "best" activity is if it is so objectionable that I will not want to do it - it is important to find out what I can get used to doing so I can incorporate it into my long-term routine
