Basically this is for everyone to share the best weight loss tip we know! I'll post mine and please, if you've got one to share, post yours too!

Mine is: Don't keep any sort of snacky foods in the house - if it's not there you can't eat it and if you've got to go to the effort of preparing something - you probably won't bother unless you're genuinely hungry!

I use to have allot of these. Like never eat after 6pm, Always eat a salad/or veggies first, try avoid red meats, use low cal stuff, drink allot of water, after you fix your plate put everything away so you can't get seconds.

That's a few I have used at different times. :)

be honest with yourself. if experiments with a particular type of food or a particular type of eating behaviour always leads to trouble, if you have tried to moderate and it invariably ended in disaster then cut your losses and run.

For example at this point in my journey, abstaining from sweets :cone::birthday_cake::martini: makes more sense then trying to stop at one. I can moderate consumption if I keep these things away from home and do strict calorie counting when I eat them, but I find myself obsessing about my next fix. If I choose to abstain from these foods no matter what, there are no more decisions to make. It isn't as if I'm missing any important nutrients this way.

My weight correction program: eat lots of organic fruits/vegetables, stop drinking soda's. Start drinking lots of water (8-10 glass per day). As well helps chitosan.

I like this; I know about keeping a food diary but I've never heard about putting your moods into it too.

However I've tried to keep food diaries before and have never managed to stick at it. I must have four or five almost empty notepads lying around that were purchased for that exact purpose!

I absolutely agree with the original poster: don't keep food nearby (in your home, in your car, in your office) that you know is unhealthy and you'll want to indulge or even binge on. That's not saying that once in a while you can't indulge--by eating out, or by buying one candy bar or bag of chips and eating a few, saving some for later...but keeping them in close proximity to you is a surefire way to guarentee that you'll overindulge. It's better to have to seek them out when you really really want them than to have them readily accessible to you at all times.  I posted about this recently on my blog hangryhippo.com!

I'll add to what I originally said, and if your work is near to either a vending machine or general store, don't carry change around with you.

Yes I'm that bad at resisting temptation that in order to avoid the vending machine, I have to make sure I don't have the means to use it!

Well I also want to share with you that Do not eat foods that is oily and that contains Carbohydrate because The food with carbohydrate will increase your weight instead of decreasing it . Moreover, Do not forget to drink lot of glasses of water which is essential for losing a weight to a great extent .

Here are some things that have worked for me.
1) Fruits And Vegtables

Fruits and vegetables are very healthy for you. They have a lot of fiber and antioxidants. In addition to this, eating raw fruits and vegetables will make you feel fuller, faster! The amounts of calories that fruit and vegetables have are really low. So be sure to eat plenty of them!

2) Eat In Proportions

Never overfill yourself. Eat until you are satisfied but do not overeat. Remember, you can always pack food up and save it for later. Remember this tip when you got out to eat at a restaurant or fast food!

3) Frequency

Instead of three big meals a day, eat less but more frequently. Doing so will keep your blood sugar levels in check. It will help avoid a calorie overload. Try to eat 5-6 small meals in a day.

4) Better Choices

Avoid fast food and processed food, they have more sodium and fat. You can lose weight just by eating home cooked meals.

5) Be Consistent

Do not jump into eating healthy right away. Allow yourself time to eat some of the foods you really like. A consistent change will give you more hope than a quick change and failure. A slow progression will give you faith about your overall progress.

6) Understand Food Nutrition

Fat free claims on products do not necessarily mean that the product is low in calories. Read the nutrition facts on the label to avoid foods that are high in sugar and fat. Do not be fooled by misleading labels that can be put on any product.

7) Water

Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day. It helps to avoid pop,coffee, and anything else loaded with sugar.

8) Exercise

Exercise for 30 min 60 minutes each day to burn off calories. This is one great way to lose a lot of body fat.

I like this idea, but only because I think it may result in me eating less overall. I.E; eat the meal in one go and you may have a snack three hours later. Eat it in two goes and the second half of the meal should replace the snack.

I'm not so sure about 'the body can cope with 500 calories more effectively than 1000 calories at one time' - do you have any evidence of this?

It sounds like the whole if you eat at night it will make you fatter theory. I don't believe it. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie; it doesn't matter when you eat them, just how much.
