Ok, I have gain about 20lbs in the last year and no matter what I do I can't take it off. So, after vacation next week I want to try something new and different. I was thinking of counting calories but I usually don't last long doing that. So, give me some suggestions. New diet plans out there. Maybe some old ones I have forgot about.
Really anything that you think might help me...

doing a combination of Eat To Live and calorie counting worked so well for me that I was briefly underweight. Back in 2004 I did a combination of Atkins and calorie counting. In fact I don't think there is any diet that you cannot combine with calorie count i.e. follow its rules and also log your calories into livestrong/fitday/etc
but if you insist, a diet in 14 words have a look at this one http://www.nosdiet.com

Yea, you are right. It's time to calories count and get back to practicing my eat to live diet. I never did follow the plan like I suppose to. But, always did very well on my diet trying to follow it for the most part.
I did start logging calories again on livestrong and I am sure, I am just over eating. My exercise, I am so use to that I doubt that I even burn any calories with it. I need to change it up. I think I will hit the elliptical tonight. It always kicks my butt.

Even with calorie counting, I've found it VERY hard to just stick to a diet. I'm still working things out, but I've realized that I need help when it comes to what I eat, when I eat, and how much I eat.
For dinner, I ALWAYS over eat--- regardless of if I cook for myself or we go out to eat. So today, I decided that I'm going to stop buying food for everybody who lives in this apartment (me, boyfriend, and sister) and just buy for myself. I got 7 different dinners to try out--- I got different brands to see which one I like the best. A friend said this really helped her because it showed her real examples of portioned food.
Secondly, I'm trying to get more liquids in my diet. I picked up some 100% apple juice, 100% grapefruit juice (no sugar added), and low sodium V8. I'm mixing in a super green food mixture into it so I can add even more veggies. I'm hoping the extra fruits and veggies will keep my system moving well, as I tend to get tummy problems from dieting.
And I'm taking up that challenge with Special K cereal. I'll be sticking to my one cup of coffee and 1 cup of cereal with 1/2 cup of 2% milk (I'm not getting rid of my 2% milk... skim makes me sad) for breakfast.
Lunch will either be more cereal (as the challenge says I should have) or a healthy can of soup.
So with extra fluids, better portioned meals (I'm literally using measuring cups at this point), and me fighting with myself to NOT eat after 8 pm (an earlier bedtime would help), all I have to do is start doing more exercising. I love Wii Fit, but getting me on it is usually a fight.
But I do want to do this--- my body needs it: my back and knees have too much pain from the extra weight and as a teacher, I need to keep myself healthy because I can not miss work.
Just wanted to share what I'm doing--- hopefully you'll find an awesome diet for yourself.

Oooh and I use the Calorie Count site's toolbar to track what I'm eating. I'll admit that I do a lot of work and play at the computer so to have the Eat Meter tracking my calorie intake and the Food Grade reminding me how healthy (or unhealthy) I'm eating is helpful!
Right now its 1:27 pm and I've consumed 403 calories with a food grade of A- (very good for me). And I feel pretty good (just finished up my V8 green food drink).

Sounds like a good plan Angelic....but I could never stick to that full time. I love to cook and couldn't just eat certain things all the time.
I could see doing it for awhile until I got back on track.
I think just counting my calories the last few days have been a real eye opener. So, now I just need to reduce the amount of calories I am taking in each day and I should see a loss.
It sounds like you know what things are a problem for you and you are facing them head on. That is good, and maybe this time you can stick with it. Good luck!

| TRY NOT GOING ON A DIET MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. WHAT I DO IS THE BIGGEST LOSER DIET BUT ITS NOT A DIET ITS SO GREAT YOU LOSE WEIGHT BY JUST SWAPPING THE BAD STUFF FOR GOOD STUFF I USE TO SAY IT WAS HARD BUT ITS NOT JUST TRY IT
