Ive tried a bunch of different diets with varying success and have really just struggled with finding food that I like that is healthy.

My friend suggested I try to do this Special K challenge: http://see.walmart.com/kelloggs/special-k-challenge/

Has anyone tried this?

Melrose, yes I have tried the Special K diet and it did not work at all. I have also tried many many diets and diet pills and diet products without success. A doctor told me about a program he and his wife are both on and lost alot of weight. He lost 41 pounds in 6 weeks. So I thought if it is good enough for a doctor and his wife I would give it a try. Since being on the TSFL plan I have llost 35 pounds and I feel great! This program is so easy a no brainer healthy plan. I hope this helps.

I've never tried the Special K diet but I can tell you that if you follow the plan as they have it outlined it will work - just like ANY diet will work if you follow the directions.

Simple reason being that, if you look beyond the hype that ALL diet plans promote (all meat, all veggies, all cabbage soup, 2 meal replacement shakes/bars, all fruit day followed by all protein day, we bring the food to your house, whatever) they all have the same underlying basis:  taking in fewer calories.  And if you add exercise to the calorie reduction (as all plans "suggest"), you naturally end up with weight loss.  The only real underlying differences are that some plans are healthier than others and some plans are easier to stick to than others.  

I'm not a big fan of the "meal replacement" type diet plans for a lot of reasons.  The biggest drawback being that, even though they can help with weight loss in the short term, they don't help you develop the the tools you need to keep the weight off in the long term.  I know it's a cliche and all, but it's really true that sustaining long-term weight loss has to come from making permanent life-style changes rather than a temporary diet.

I have to agree w/ Suneos, basically any diet works as long as you keep your calories low and add exercise. If you are burning more than you are taking in then you will loose weight. I think the important thing is to make sure you are getting a well balance diet with carbs, proteins and fats balanced. There are lots of theories on the balance but my experience is I need to keep my carbs less than 40% of my calories. Good luck.

suenos is as wise as they come it really is true any diet will work but sticking to it is the hard part i could make my own diet and call it the celery and um sawdust diet and if all you eat is celery and sawdust you will lose x amount of pounds in x amount of time the problem is just like what suenos said you end up craving everything else and it ends up in failure cause you are constantly hungry and left feeling un satisfied no matter how much sawdust you consume i know its crazy but i have seen some crazy diets out there the only real sustainable diet is really not a diet but a habit change instead of a candy bar try a banana instead of regular mayo and white bread find the lowest cal wheat bread with fiber and low cal miracle whip before you know it all those fewer calories will add up and the weight will come off i would focus on finding foods you like and just finding healthier alternatives to those cause at the end of the day that is what you will stick with long term i would find your rmr (resting metabolic rate) and go from there get all the food you want but dont go over the calories for your rmr and then introduce different varieties of foods till you find something that you can stick with for me i consumed over half my calories per day in soda and sugary beverages so switching to splenda <---- not that bad when you get used to it by the way and the other half of my calories were from small calorie packed and nutrion void fast foods now if your like me you love fast food but you can find healthy alternatives so that you dont end up hating your new way of eating just an example but i love taco bell you can get a southwest chicken taco salad and just dont eat the shell still tastes like tacos so when i get the urge rather than saying no im on a diet i just make healthier choices now i do keep an extremely detailed journal so even that taco salad goes in with calories at first it is hard to keep track cause you have to find all the foods you eat and get the calories but after the first couple weeks most of the calories you found will be in your jounal and you can just flip back and see what calorie count is in what you are about to eat and then you are on auto pilot and its awesome thought free and very easy but really it boils down to keeping a detailed journal and making it a habit also eating 5 meals a day and spreading them every 2-3 hours will help with feeling hungry just remember it will be a process it wont happen overnight and getting where you want is possible another example but i love pizza a normal meatlovers pizza is easily 250 cals a slice but if you go thin crust and only one type of meat now the calories are down to 150 a slice just rough numbers but you get the idea if you eat 3 slices instead of 750 calories your at 450 and you still got your pizza craving taken care of not saying to do that everyday cause there is no real way to get it exact if your not making your own food but you can estimate and get it where it creates that defict you need without making you feel deprived everyone on here is much more accomplished in there weightloss than i am but i just figured i would share what has been working for me

also some more info there is a calculator under the calories burned tab that will calculate your rmr for you  good luck
