Most people think that guacamole is off the list for watching weight. But it is actually much lower in calories than other dips and is healthy too. Now, if you have it with alot of chips, that's another story!
I don't usually measure the ingredients closely but this should be pretty good; adjust to your taste.
1 ripe avacado, peeled & mashed
1/4 cup to 1/3 cup low fat cottage cheese
1/4 cup to 1/3 cup salsa
A few green onions, chopped fine
Garlic salt to taste (or very finely chopped garlic with salt)
The whole recipe is only about 300 calories.

Clever how your recipe lowers calories by using the lower-calorie ingredients (salsa and cottage cheese).
Incidentally, fat from Avocado is healthy. But did you know that store-bought guacamoli sometimes has no avocado, just some green food colouring and vegetable oil? If buying, check the ingredients!

| Well, that explains why store purchased guacamole tastes so awful! I never buy it. I made this guac often for guests and people love it. The only adjustment I might make is to use low fat sour cream in place of the cottage cheese but really it makes very little difference in taste or texture.

That is absolutely disgusting. I had noticed store-bought stuff tasted gross... maybe that was why.

Grossness Nir, I had no idea. I'm a major avocado fanatic myself, so I don't even bother with the store bought stuff because I always have avocados on hand. Sounds like good recipe, a little tabasco in there wouldn't hurt either

This was delicious! I also added a just a tinch of Sour Cream that I had in my fridge (next time I'd do fat free) and it was super creamy and wonderful. THanks.

| Good, I'm glad you liked it. I often use low fat sour cream in place of the cottage cheese but I think the cottage is good and lower in calories.

I love just taking pieces of avocados and eating them on wheat saltines...
