HEALTHY PIZZA
CRUST
1 package of dry yeast
1 cup very warm water
1 tablespoon honey
2 &1/2 cups whole wheat flour
Sprinkle yeast into the water, add honey, stir and allow to stand for 10minutes. Add flour and work to form firm dough. Transfer to a bowl that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Knead in bowl. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes. Preheat oven at 400 degrees. Spread in pizza pan (you can spray pizza pan with nonstick cooking spray also). Bake crust for 3 minutes. Add toppings and bake for an additional 15-18 minutes. Let cool before eating so you do not burn the roof of your mouth and then not be able to eat for three days.

2% shredded cheese
Tomatoes
Olives

I use a bit of coarse corn meal sprinkled on my pizza pan to prevent sticking!

| I use the whole wheat pitas to make pizzas. I first tried them about a month ago when a WW friend told me about them. The pita bread is only 2 WW points. They are so good that now I think I am actually spoiled on them because the thought of take out pizza is not nearly as appealing.

I finally got around to trying the pizzas made with whole wheat pitas. Mmmmmm:yumm:
I used tomato sauce and added some oregano flakes to it and spread on top of the opened pita. I laid these on a cookie sheet covered with non-stick aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Then put lots of veggies on top and topped it all with mozzarella flavored veggie shreds (instead of regular animal protein cheese). I had thought of picking up a Pizza Hut "Fit n Delicious" pizza tonight after work, but I think I like the homemade ones better. And they are certainly less calories and fat.

| I'm not sure how they make it, but papa murphys came out with those deLite pizzas, and the most noticeable thing about them is their super thin crust, which cuts quite a few calories.

We used to get the Papa Murphy's DeLite pizzas most Friday nights. I hated to cook after a long week at work. Then one day, after "talking" to someone on this forum about making good choices, I compared the Papa Murphy's DeLite to the Pizza Hut "Fit 'n Delicious" and found that the Papa Murphy's has a lot more fat than the Pizza Hut version. I compared strictly veggie versions of each-no meat. Being the crust is so thin, and the cheese is less, it seems my hubby and I can each easily eat 1/2 a pizza. So, I compared 1/2 of a large pizza for each:
Pizza Hut large (14") considers 1/12 of a pizza for each slice, Papa Murphy's considers 1/10 of a pizza for each slice.
1/2 Papa Murphy's Large Veggie DeLite: 750 cal. 40 g. protein 40 g. fat 2.5 g. fiber
1/2 Pizza Hut 14" (green pepper, red onion & tomato) 840 calories 36 g. protein 21g. fat 12 g. fiber
Having ordered and eaten each....I'd say they both satisfied my craving for pizza. I think Pizza Hut's has a lot less cheese than Papa Murphy's, which is probably why it also has a lot less fat.
So, if we get a craving for pizza more than we should eat it, I make the whole wheat pita, homemade variety:D

| Well that's no good! The closest Pizza Hut is about 50 miles away. I'll just have to make pita pizza!
