Hey everyone,
it's almost my birthday (march 24) and my boyfriend and i want to bake a cake each (his birthday is a few days later). I want to make a cake that isn't going to damage my dieting TOO much. Does anyone have any recipes/ideas? I've been searching online but nothing really shows how many calories per slice or anything. Also, is there such thing as a low fat/calorie frosting or anything?
Hannah.

Make really good cupcakes, and each have ONE with a candle on it. Then take the rest to a retirement home or a needy family and give them away. It will be the best birthday you've ever had!
Happy Birthday!!!
Peter
P.S.
I like white cake, white icing and coconut on top if you want to send one my way! One, once in awhile, won't do any damage.

I LOVE White Cake!! I have made white cake and kept out the egg yolks. Bake cake and let cool. Poke holes in the cake with a large tined fork, pour SF Jello over top and refridgerate. Place layers, bottom side together on plate, this put the fruit flavor in the center like filling. Frost with cool whip. Gel decoration for the message. YUM :yumm: Don't leave it out on the counter a long time. Keep refridgerated. Cold cake. :yumm: If you can't stop eating it though, give it away.
Happy Birthday!

If you like angel food cake, it is low fat and delicious with fresh strawberries and maybe some sort of whipped topping. The nutrition calculator here says 140 calories per serving, no fat.
This was, in fact, always my special request for bday cake when I was growing up. You could even have very generous servings with minimal guilt.
Hope you have a great birthday!

thanks for the replies and 'happy birthdays'...
i saw an ad in People magazine (or star or someother gossip thing) a caterpiller cake made out of cereal and stuff for kids... i was thinking about making one of those, but using healthier cereal and 'candies' and stuff...
we'll see how it goes...either that or i'll buy a low fat cake mix and be done with it lol...
again, thanks.

I don't know if i could stand to try to eat healthy on birthday...does that mean I'm not commited enough to this?
I think I will feel deprived and it wouldn't be a happy birthday...
BUT something I'm thinking about doing this year...in the invitations, including a list of items needed by Nashville Ronald McDonald House, and asking each of my guests to bring one of those items in lieu of gift. I have sooo much STUFF, as most of us do...and I don't have enough money to help the RMH that much all by myself...so I can do it this way!
But I just don't know about giving up my cake...
Well, it's not til the end of December anyway...

I know no one has been here for awhile, but wanted to share a great cake.
1 box chocolate cake mix, 10 oz of diet coke, mix together , bake( 8X9 ) in a 350 degree oven 35 minutes test for doneness. Frost with ff cool whip and sugar free chocolate pudding, mix together. Make pudding and then mix with the cool whip. Excellent. Cake is rich like a brownie. great recipe!

| Try the URL eatbetteramerica.com and look at the dessert recipes. They have a number of cake recipes which start with an angel food mix and then add something - like mocha flavor or pumpkin, etc. They also give all the serving and calorie information which I appreciate.
